alright well since the bike was bought it hasnt ever idled. and after reading about problems with the tors that sounds like what it is. it will idle if you just barly touch the throttle. so i checked today and the tors had already been disconnected previously. tried connecting it and sheee wouldnt even run. so whats the fix? does it just need a tors eliminator?

looking for a quick answer, and sorry im kinda new to the banshee world.

If the tors is dissconnected is is not likely the source of your idling problem

There is an idle adjuster on top of the tors,give them half a turn a piece and see if that helps.

 

Make sure your air screws are set properly. Theres literaly like 20 things that can cause it not to idle.

alright so if you adjust the throttle cable so that it idles. any movement it in will make it run away, such as turning the bars, or jsut moving the cable at all. does the cable just need to be replaced, or is there a problem somewere?

You may need to check your cable and how it is routed cause it sounds like it is getting pulled on. Maybe loosen it up a tad also at the thumb throttle.

 

If the wires on the top of the carbs, the tors unit and the throttle are all cut or gone, then the Tors is removed. You dont have to get the kit to remove the units from the tops of the carbs, but it is nice cause it cleans it up alot.

another question. compresion is at 80 85 is that low? new top end?

still lookin for help on the cable too. its play at the thumb that is causing it. how do i keep it from moving in this area

New top end rebuild NO question.

Adjust the play with the adjuster going into the throttle housing on the bars, turn it outwards to tighten up the slack.!!!

 

Adjust it where i put the circle on mine.

thanks for the help man. and yeah that how i got it to idle right, but see the black rubber cover. the previous owner had spliced that the reason idk why, but it has zipties to hold it on there. i think this may be the cause but there is play in the cable were it goes in and if it you touch it at all it opens up the slides and it runs away. :ermm:

Have you taken the cover of your throttle housing to look inside to see if the cable is attached right and everything is in place?

 

Im not talking about that rubber cover, im talking about the top where the 3 bolts hold the cover on the throttle housing. Open it and see if everything is together right in there.

 

If you don't know take a close pic and show it here.

yes sir, and hit it with some cable fluid so it was operating smoothly

i think that may be the problem because there is too much movement there, or theres something wrong with the cable further down. but idk how i would fix it.

 

and does it need a top end rebuild imediattly or is it ridable for awhile?

so the idiot before didnt use the idle screws when he removed the tors, so it has no idle screws

Buy some and the tap and put them in.

 

Tap them VERY slow with oil. 1/2 turn in half turn out and so on till its done. Use cutting oil when tapping the holes or you will rish snapping the tap off..remember go slow and take your time tapping it .

my idle adjustment screws snapped on mine so when i need to adjust my idle or sync the carbs i have to make that adjustment at the cable. good thing i start work today so now i can get the eliminator kit.

I have never installed the idle screws on any of my carbs when eliminating tors. You can make all of your adjustment at the cables. Alot of people have told me drilling those holes is a waiste of time.
