sy1177 Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 So this is a weird issue I wasn't anticipating. I picked up a set of Pro Taper atv fat bars for my Banshee, got everything mounted up but i'm having an issue with the stock controlls. The brake lever mounts next to the thumb throttle (which is mounted against the grip like its supposed to be) but it mounts on the bend of the bars which sets the lever at a weird angle. Basically, the only way I can think to fix it is to cut the grip down, (which I don't want to do) slide the throttle over to the right an inch or so so I can slide the brake lever mount to the flat part of the bar. Did anyone else run into this issue? Quote
Drewski Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 I bought a set of pro taper contours and what i found was that the bars were a little longer therefor making my cables and brake lines a little to short but i managed to re route the cables so they would fit on the flat part of the bar. maybe not the same problem but still an issue. When I held my stock bars up to the pro tapers, the pro tapers were indeed a little bit longer, but, the horizontal part of the stock bars were longer and the brake lever was able to mount on the horizontal part of the bars. On the pro tapers, the bend is wider and in turn, gives you less mounting on the horizontal part of the bar for the controlls. (or at least thats how it is in my case) Quote
hercalmighty Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Do you have a pic? Are you using the plastic spacer that goes between the throttle and brake rezzie Quote
sy1177 Posted May 21, 2009 Author Report Posted May 21, 2009 Do you have a pic? Are you using the plastic spacer that goes between the throttle and brake rezzie I can get a pic up later of the issue. I tried both ways, with the spacer and without. I'd like to keep the spacer in there though if I can. I just can't seem to get the brake lever over far enough to avoid the bend of the bars. Quote

I bought the bars from a forum member here that had an ad on ebay. Not sure if he knew or not, but the bars were cut down on either end. All atv bend bars measure 31.50" from end to end, mine measured 30.00". So that extra 3/4" on either side is what i'm missing for my controls to mount properly. Quote
