bansheejoel Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Like alot prolly already know im picking up parts to build up a 4mill. Im debating on running stock jugs ported by kevin with his "hot hillshooter" port job or running a cub. What kind of difference is there hp wise with say cpi pipes and 34mm carbs? How "dunable" is a cub? Thank you also, will i need a lockup? OR a override? Quote

bansheejoel Posted May 11, 2009 Author Report Posted May 11, 2009 what about dune riding? I would be doing 70% dune 30% drag Quote
bada450r Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) what about dune riding? I would be doing 70% dune 30% drag cubs are drag cylinders, ive had both a 4mil stock cylinder and a cub and i can tell you that the powerband on the cub hits alot harder and is more violent than a stock jug....if i was doing more dunning than draging i would go with a stock cylinder....hope that helps Edited May 11, 2009 by bada450r Quote
dajogejr Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Dunable override and lockup clutch. Some people are going to tell you they have a dune/drag motor and it shifts fine, some will tell you it won't shift for shit... Without an override, you're gonna lose races due to not being able to shift sooner or later... You simply can not shift the bike as quickly on a stock cut tranny as you can an override. If you get an override without a lockup, you'll eat a clutch a little quicker. I know you're not talking full on drag bike. But you are talking 70 to 80HP setup....which I think is the starting point for both.... Quote
RagunCajun Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 +1 on the override and lockup. I went with an override because missing shifts blow ass in races. And once i tried my override, i fell in love with it. No 6th gear sucks with my dunable but you will be in sand so you have to worry about that. Gearing changes can solve that anyway. I chose to go with a 4mil on ported stock cylinders because i wanted mid range power for playing around. I didnt want the late/violent powerband that a cub has. And another factor is i didnt wanna run race fuel. A properly set up 4mill ported stocker is a great running bike. Not on the same level as a cub but to each his own. Quote
bansheejoel Posted May 11, 2009 Author Report Posted May 11, 2009 thank you everyone who has helped me. I think a stock juged bike would be better for my riding style after what ive heared from you guys. Thank you! Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 x2 on the override and lock-up make sure you have $ set aside for swinger/tire/gear change, if you are making a big a big jump in power. Quote
