Burt Reynolds Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) whrn you buy the cubs new do you have to do any port work? or can you bolt on and go? No you dont HAVE to get them ported, but IMO not porting them defeats the purpose. The thing with cubs is that even "unported" the ports are still very aggressive. So your still going to have drag style port timing. I may be wrong but im sure some other people will chime in and clear it up With the money you spend on unported cubs. You could totaly build an awesome stock cylinder motor. Edited April 19, 2009 by Burt Reynolds Quote
kawiking Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 when i got my cub from f.a.s.t . jeff had done a clean up port to it. cubs are ready to race. i think u can only get a drag port on them . Quote
shanYE west Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 The cubs do need porting even out of the box.. But its very minimal. They need what most people call a "clean up" port wich is basicly smoothing and cleaning up casting flaws. And most builders will do this when they sell the cub. A unported cub will still run extremely well. Porting on cubs wont yeild the gains like it does on stock cylinders since they come with drag port timings out of the box. It will cost alot more money to get stock cylinders to make the same power as a cub. Not saying it can't be done.. But the portwork will be time consuming and exspensive. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 I guess it would be good to know what type of riding. Quote
