bansheejoel Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I took the shee for a ride today to make sure its ready for the trip saturday and i guess the key switch doesnt work now? I traced down the wire to the cdi box and im not getting any power.........its not a big deal as i have the other kill switch but i was wondering if that means my cdi box is starting to going out or not... thanks for any info Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 are you saying that the bike wont turn off with the key or that the bike wont run with the key in the run position? Quote
2001Stroker Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 The key grounds the CDI, when you turn it to the on position. Your key switch probably took a crap. Either that, or one of the two wires has a break in it somewhere. To diagnose the key switch, unplug it. Make a jumper wire. The bike will not run, with the switch unplugged. Now, take your jumper wire, and jump it across the two terminals that have the Black/Red Stripe wire, and the Black/White Stripe wire. Now, crank up the motor. With the engine running, take the jumper wire out. That should kill the bike. If that works, your key switch is bad. Quote
bansheejoel Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 i used my cousins which is good and it does the same thing. Runs on the off position. Traced the wires and they all look good :ermm: Quote
