bama boy Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Can anyone help? This is my first banshee and i dont know very much about jetting. It is a 97 the only mods are: fmf gold series pipes, boost bottle, +3 degree timing advance, k&n air filter w/ no air box, it is bored 40 over (65mm). I am about 2000ft. above sea level. The guy i bought it from has 280 mains and 30 pilots. Is that too rich or lean? Any ideas as to where i should be as far as mains and pilots? Quote
'04limited Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 you are close on the jetting. do a plug chop on the spark plugs to make sure though. do a search for plug chop and it will tell you exactly how to perform one . Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 as for the mains I would say you are really close but for the pilots you are rich. I would drop them down to 27.5. But is there any port work done? Quote
bama boy Posted March 26, 2009 Author Report Posted March 26, 2009 I dont think there is any port work done. The guy I bought it from was pretty much a brain dead! So i just rode it for a while and tore it down had it bored to 65mm/ 40 over and just looking for some good input on pistons and jetting. Quote
GrMeyer Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 alot of people I know are running wiseco...I was running wiseco tell i melted a hole in my piston due from a pod filter coming off in the dunes. So I sent my jugs to be ported and now im going to try some Pro-x to see how they work. Im waiting on my crank to get trued and welded and then it will be all back together for some fun...But for jetting You might want to start around 300 and drop it down when you can do some plug chops.
