1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 i did a compression test on my 98 shee and as long as i did it right the compression was way under specs... it read about 55 in one cylinder and 75 in the other.. if i am correct you just kick it like you would start it to get the cylinders compression right? Quote
hercalmighty Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Ok. What you have to do is hold the throttle wide open and kick it over until the needle stops going up. Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 What's your elevation/dome size? Have you noticed any problems, hard starting ext...? With the throttle wide open and no plug in it, keep kicking until the needle stops. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 541 above sea level and no it ran great one day then all of the sudden it shut down and now i have no clue where to begin. I really dk anything about the bike besides a few mods. i bout the bik 2 years ago and haven't had any problems till now! it has trinity 2-1 carb and fmf knarly exaust... Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 also has a Ricky stator and v-force 2 reeds Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 I am guessing it is a stock head. That is well below normal. 125 is great, 110 or below is bad. Would not hurt to try a different tester also. Just to make sure. If that is the case, time for troubleshooting and rebuild. I would start with a leak down test. Need to fig out why the topend gave out. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 yea stock head... and could it just be time? the guy who owned it before me ran it before me ran it hard and i was right behind him i gave it everything she had every time we rode.. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 and for the leakdown test will it work with the trinity 2-1 carb intake? Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Could be. Sometimes it will drop over time as the top wears out. Sometimes it just goes. A leak down test is just a safe way to go about it. You would hate to put on a new topend and then blow it again. IMO. I like to play it safe. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 k ill see what i can do and the compression is actually 110 per cylinder give or take a psi or 2 Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 That is way better than your first post. Still low and rebuild worthy. Time for some mods!!!! Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 haha wish but the budget is tight... only the necessities.. and how do you do a leakdown test on a 2-1 intake? Quote
DallasGDub Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Not sure, , maybe someone else will jump in here. You might be able to plug the pump side into one of the the exhaust holes. But I am just guessing. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 k and def thanx for all the help... now i just gotta find out my bore... much appreciated DallasGDub Quote
