278 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 Do the leakdown test, then run the heat cylcles and retorque. I would double check the pilot jets that they are clean, double check all of the adjustments on each carb that they are the same and make sure to sync them. Check the compression in each cylinder to rule out an internal mechanical issue. You could also have an issue with your reeds, make sure they are closing properly and not broken. Ok thanks Brandon, you know you always seem to disapear until I have an issue with my shee then you come out of know where and help me fix it haha Quote
AKheathen Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 is it just near idle? as mentioned, have you synced yet? are you gonna take that thing for a test run befor you tear it down again? Quote
AKheathen Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) fool with the carbs and i just finished puting my motor together like 5 6 days ago and i never did a leak test could some one explain what it is and how to do it i always end up posting before i finish my thoughts but i didnt put the clutch cover on yet waiting for the clutch to come in the mail and then the gasket oo also i didnt put on the starter cover it's pinned at the top of repairs and mods one thin i just noticed from your sig- did you put the o-rings in the pipes, or leave them on the juggs when you installed? 278 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 Haha yeah they're in there, thats a spare set that I got with the gasket set I oerdered so I just put them where they are for the hell of it... those dont even contact the pipe, but the o-rings for the pipes are in there. As Brandon mentioned Im just going to do a compression and leak down test to make sure its nothing internal, if it passes those tests I'm going to take the carbs and reeds off and go through them. 278 Posted March 23, 2009 Author Report Posted March 23, 2009 Ok guys I havn't done a comp. test yet but I pulled the carbs and reeds... The reeds weren't broken, and I cleaned the carbs but I noticed the rubber cross-over tube that connects the carbs for the choke was missing... I didn't think that it would effect anything because it was for the choke, but Im thinking that could have been the problem, could I be right about that being the problem or does that tube not matter if your not using the choke Quote
AKheathen Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 that tube goes to a 1/4" hole in the right carb bore. it will cause a big air leak Quote
278 Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Haha that's what I thought I know kind of a stupid question... I hadn't had my coffee this morning yet when I posted that. Well hopefully that fixes it Quote
