adjusting the flywheel after advancing timing

Recommended Posts

The gap between the raised notch and the node was alot bigger(stock) before I pulled the flywheel.

Got it off put in the new plate (+4 timing) Got it all back together.

But now the gap is way smaller. I can't even fit a business card in between. It is about as small as it can possibly get without rubbing.

Is this ok? or does it need to be adjusted?

If it needs to be adjusted...HOW DO I ADJUST IT??????

it shourd be .018" If you cant fit a business card in there, it is too tight. If you do not have a feeler gauge, the business card trick will get you running. To adjust it, loosen the 2 screws that hold the pick up coil. (You can see the top one in your pic, the other is just below the coil) Stick your business card inbetween the lug on the flywheel and pick up. Then just snug the screws back down.
