njdread77 Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Fellas I need a little bit of help here. Just bought my first Banshee, its a 2000 fairly stock, only T5's and a moose boost bottle,no jet kit. Would I benefit any from re-jetting ?? I'm in northern nj and the weather is between 40-55 degrees lately. If re-jetting is a must, what size jets do I need. Quote

dave5.0 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 My buddy bought an '01 a long time ago with T-5s on it. It had the stock jetting in it too. I can't believe it didn't melt down. Quote

Michael Jackson Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I've got a stock air box with after market filter, and the lid is on. what kind of filter is it? is the snorkel still on the lid? if so at least take that off if ur gona run with lid on start at 270 or 260 main and work down, or take the lid off and start at a 300, leave the pilots stock, try the 4th clip down from blunt end on the stock needles get a tors eliminator kit if you dont already and sync the carbs up right, do a search there are tons of threads oh how to, plug chop threads too , to get your mains dialed in, with spring coming though, that will chnage everything, although today in jersey felt like spring, the temperature and elevation u are riding at will always change things to a certain degree Quote
sredish Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 if you have t-5 and all that other stuff,it has been rejeted.. that's an assumption, i've seen where some people do mods and overlook that nice little benefit and grenade a motor. Quote
njdread77 Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 Not sure what u exactly mean by the snorkel. But everything under the seat looks pretty in tact. The air filter looks like a normal bike filter lol, an oily circular sponge lol. The Tors is still installed I believe, and you said something about a plug chop ??? What exactly does that do to performance, and how difficult is it to perform these mods on my own ??? I know once its re-jetted that it'll need to be tuned, and how hard is it to remove the Tors and synch the carbs ??? I'm pretty good with tools in my hand so hopefully I can do the work myself. Quote
blaster2006 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 around here where i live, when people ONLY put pipes on ( keeping stock airbox that is) , so just pipes, they tend to keep stock mains and it still runs good. your not that far off im going to GUESS...since you still got the airbox with lid. but yeah to be safe i would listen to what others said and jet up 1-3 sizes (220-240 mains) if you just got it piped Quote

pinned247 Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 (edited) Not sure what u exactly mean by the snorkel. I live in central PA. Somewhere betwwen 1,120 and 1,300 ft above sea level. I have FMF fatty's, Powercore 2 silcencer's, K&N air filter and a vented air box lid w/ no snorkel. I'm running 280's and I may be a bit lean... The snorkel is circled in red.... Fatties, T5's, pipes of that sort at sea level should be running anywhere from 290 to 310, at a couple thousand foot, maybe 270 to 290..... you buddies must think it's running good but if they took the time to rejet they'd 1) feel a new found power and 2) probably keep from bombing the motor.... dave5.0 Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 I've always been told jet up until it pukes on it self. Then go back down one size at a time until it runs clean. That works for me and always gets a nice safe and sometimes rich setup. Works good for guys like me who aren't realy racing but want the motor to last as long as possible. All these recommendations are probably in the ballpark but you won't know for sure until your bike is done something like that. Since they're all a little different. Quote
