2001JLShee Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Hey Guys, So I was home from college for Christmas Break in SW Iowa, I decided to get my Banshee out and ride around for awhile in the snow just because it had been sitting in the shed for awhile. I rode it down to my garage to air up the tires and as I was riding it, it made an extremely loud crack/backfire sound and now it is only running on the right cylinder. I swapped out the plugs for new ones. Whenever I try starting it, I kick it for at least 40-50 tries and it will finally start and the right side cylinder idles just fine but nothing from the left side unless I have the choke out on full and basically have the throttle pinned wide open. I think I may have lost a reed but I wanted to consult the experts first before I go tearing into the unknown. After I get her fixed it will most likely be for sale if anyone is interested! Quote
RUDEDAWG Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Did you leave gas in it? Gas left in the carbs can gum thing up if left sitting for a while. Check to see if you don't have a clogged pilot jet since it will run on that side with the choke on. Just my .02. Quote
lowbuckracing Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Do a compression test to see whats going on before running it anymore..A little prevenative can save you a bundle.. Quote
hollisatp Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 yeah Id check the carbs... they look at the reeds... easy to do.. just take off the aif filter, lift the slide and shine a light in there.. Quote

That's what I would do...1st check your compression; then if that checks out ok, take a look at your reeds; it may have chomped one. Quote
