jeb Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Just a couple of simple questions. I am sure this has been talked about before in a round about way, so I just want to make sure that I have an accurate answer. Can I use Castro 927 with alcohol? I just put a set of carbs on my bike and have ran Castro 927 on pump and did not even realize that it would make a difference as to what type of oil I used when running alcohol. I checked the manufactures website and it says you can but than includes all the legal bs about why you may or may not want to use that oil. Also does anyone have examples of different types of ports i.e. trail, dune, and drag. Not sure what others there than those. Thank for the help in advance. Quote

Yep, lots of people run castor 927 with alcohol, just make sure you purge it afterwards.. Although I run klotz with my alcohol because I believe it doesn't want to separate like 927 when it sits in the gas can a couple days.. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Most common oils for use with Methanol are Klotz Benoil and Supertechniplate, and Maxima 927...they are castor based. I've always heard Redline makes a very good methanol premix, but...hard to find and expensive.... Quote

The Redline is a bit scarce and pricey.. but.. I like it. Summit Racing sells it by the gallon so I just usuallly stock up in the spring. Quote

Great, So I didn't waste half the night, have the cops called on me at 1 AM (because I just couldn't wait to try it out which of course led to having to jet the bike which promted the cops). So how long can I let it sit in the can before it is no longer any good? I do have it a metal can, apprently you should not leave it in a plastic can which makes no sense since the tank for the bike is plastic. Quote

I would recommend it especially if your going to let it sit a couple days.. Jmo Quote

How long can that sit in the bike tank, or in the gas can for that matter before it is no longer suitable for use? Edited February 20, 2009 by jeb Quote
