dunkfever Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Sup guy so I'm the stupid newb, I just got my 1st shee and its bone stock I'm going to modify it for trail riding and I'm just wondering what pipes I should buy cause I talked to the local yamaha dealer and he said get fmf 's so what do y'all think let me know please than x guys lol and let me know some other begining mods and money is no object peace Quote
Boo_69 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I had T-5's that I was very pleased with. I've also heard good things about dmc 916's. BTW welcome to the hq!!! Quote
hercalmighty Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Some pipes to go with are Pro Circuit, FMF Gnarleys, PT mids. If you like a little more of a top end hit go FMF Fatties, Toomey T5's, PT revs. Good mods to start out with would be the pipes, aftermarket air filter, cool head with smaller domes (20-21cc if staying on pump gas), Timing plate set at about +4. Then go bigger carbs, porting and maybe a stroker crank. Quote
Michael Jackson Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 depends on what kind of trails you are riding, to some, trails means 1st and 2nd gear driving over logs and shit, to others its 4th gear wide open flying, pick a pipe that suits you .. and money is no object? some other beginning mods? you might want to rip off that front end because its about the worst thing in the world, since money is no object i took the liberty to find you a nice front end on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Acces...%3A1|240%3A1318 then you might wana get some real tires , maybe some razr2's or holeshot gncc's for about $400 a pair, that should keep u goin for a while Quote
GrMeyer Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I like to get my ride riding better before i go fast. so suspension is the first thing i do and then i do go fast mods. but a good set of pipes will really open the bike...but the builders and people on here need to know what type of trail riding you will be doing to help you because thats why there are so many diff aftermarket parts because of diff riding. But all in all get ride of the Tors on the bike... That shit is a death trap if you start riding in water. so spend the extra 60 and get the kit and save yourself some head probs. Quote
dunkfever Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 Thanx for the help guys to be more specific I do mostly open trail riding so I'm wide open a lot. And I just picked up some gibson arms with works shocks and pirelli 6 plys allaround Quote
