gaetzbomb Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Need help transmission makes noise in 2nd gear it sounds like the chain is skipping but it dosent seem to be. chain is tight sprocket need to be replaced soon along with the chain. transmission wuz just redone all new gears one shift fork new main shaft transmission is basically new. only does it in 2nd gear. sheerider1026 Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 2nd gear is the weak link to the tranny.. could very well be that it is stripped.. or maybe another problem.. i would pull the clutch cover off and check your shift star and shift rod first, if that all checks out its time to split those cases (and the mods begin!) lol.. gaetzbomb Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 lol yeah it wuz just apart got it all back together and put in bike tonite. yeah there are all new gears old ones were worn pretty bad like i said everything in the transmission is brand new first time running it again wuz tonite. dajogejr Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Replace all three shift forks...not just the one. Before you jump into splitting the cases again, you need to replace the chain and sprocket.....that's a helluva lot easier. Replace front and rear sprockets along with the chain, they wear as a set.
