2001Stroker Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Tires either out of round, or steering is out of alignment. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 New tires? Let them break in. Or your rim isn't true anymore... or something is worn out. Or stay off the road. Quote
2001Stroker Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 New tires? Let them break in. what? Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Just to be safe check your axle bearings cuz mine went out and it felt like that then started screeching and then locked up and then costed me money. Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 what? What I meant was new aggressive tires on the road usually run like shit...when they are lower, say 60% tread, they tend to run a hell of a lot smoother. Not to mention they could be mounted wrong. Edit- And quad tires don't get balanced. And it's a quad, not a damn Cadillac. A little bit of shaking can be normal...it's how violent/how much of a shake that's the question....front end or rear? Pic of your bike? Usually a part defect can be seen in a picture...does it appear to stand even? Flatspotted tires? When did you last ride it? Quote
Snopczynski Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Its probably the alignment. There needs to be a 1/4" toe out. Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 not to sound like a smart ass but was the road smooth? Quote
supersider Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 not to sound like a smart ass but was the road smooth? yeah pavement it started doing it after i tightend my chain? tire are old and axle bearings are fine Quote
supersider Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Its probably the alignment. There needs to be a 1/4" toe out. What do you mean by 1/4 toe out? sorry im not a mech! Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 can you elaborate further on the type of vibration you are experiencing? could be brake dragging? happened on my blaster Quote
uwenr Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 my 95 shakes bad around 4 gear and up anybody tell me whats going on, also any references on where to buy 35mm pwks> Does it shake in the front or the back. Back could be a bent axle or bad bearing, tires could have sand in them, rim could be bent. It could be alot of things. when you ask for help explain what you have tried and looked into, that will narrow down what to suggest. Quote
AKheathen Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 put the carrier on a stand or block and spin the wheels to see if the axle owheel is bent. when mu friend rode in front of me, i noticed that min is quite off, but i have 22's and htey don't shake when i'm running at high speeds off road, mostly because it's working the terrain as well. 1/4" toe out, means that the front of the tires are 1/4" rurther apart than the rear of the tires. Quote
Woolfman Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 mine did that when I had a bent rim and so did some of my cars Quote
2001Stroker Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 1/4" toe out, means that the front of the tires are 1/4" rurther apart than the rear of the tires. Absolutely not. 1/4" toe out deals with the alignment on the front tires only. Look at this drawing. Quote
