05.Banshee.SE Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Good deal. What are you using? I'll be doing the same shortly. Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Since I dont have money for polishing equipment heres what i did. first I took the covers off and ran them over the bench grinder to get rid of the embossed words, then I put them on the wire brush side to strip paint, then i sanded with 150 grit sand paper and a old brake pad in them to keep it level (no sanding block lol) then 2 hours late i moved up to 400 grit, then another hour later i moved up to 1200 grit (all i had lol) then finally i took them to my neighbors and used the grinder with cloth wheel he uses to sharpen his lathe tools lol i need some rubbing compound so they look like mirror instead of chrome. any advice for polishing for the poor man is appreciated  Quote
Hilarious Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 looks nice. you should immediately shift focus to your foot pegs and brake pedal next. Quote
lokisbuddy Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 That would be like polishing a turd though. I am gonna wait till i have the frame and hubs and a arms pc'd then ill do those, as for the brake pedal and shifter I am getting the tusk shifter and pro armor brake pedal. if i did polish them wouldnt they rust even worse?
