I know that I run sand, and there is a difference in that and pavement...but my stock cut tranny (no billet) has been bullet proof for hundreds and hundreds of passes, not a single issue. I only have a 68mm cub, but we're not talking a 20 to 40 HP difference, maybe a handful at best. If he was running a full 1-6 override...than I can believe it. They are temperamental....but some have had very good luck with them still. 2nd gear is the weakest in the tranny...but if he's riding pavement, I can't see him launching in 2nd. If you want to run a 1-6 on pavement, my advice is to talk to Whitaker, WCR racing... Quote
nitroburner13 Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 im running a cut stocker from metal tech here in phoenix. its held up great so far im just concerned if im gonna need 6th to make it to the lights. im gonna be running 1/4 mile. 1/8th mile isnt long enough for my taste Quote

tony cub Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 What does Greg say about the failures? only that the tranny wasn't holding..he's pretty cool and will do anything to help you out,but billet was the way to go on that..havent had a problem since.. Quote
dajogejr Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Good info...thanks. I was told I should run a billet second in mine as well...after two years, (and as you said, on sand) I've proven to myself otherwise. Same goes for straight cuts....no need for what I do. Quote

dajogejr Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Yep...like we both said, pavement vs. sand thing. Hundreds and HUNDREDS of passes on my stock tranny, stock crank/basket gears, zero issues. Right now is the first time I've had my bottom end apart since Early 2007...and only because I sent out the cases to get match ported and my cub degreed in and ported. Tranny, crank, etc., in side all still look perfect!!! Quote
