SkullRider Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Hey all Got a question about Glamis. In the near future there will be about 6 or 7 of us Flatlanders takein a week long trip to Glamis to ride some bigger dunes other then what we ride every other weekend here in Ks (little sahara). Anyway from reading on diffrent sites and on Glamis.com its starting to look a little scary for the 2 of us that have shee's and the ones that have 450's.Seems like we r going to be hassled by the cops and possibly have all our stuff inpounded.None of us have our bikes registered and only 3 of us can show we actualy bought our bikes new,the the other 4 built or bought theres used and well we all know how used stuff can get some times.Anyway we didnt want to spend a small fortune to come to glamis just to have our stuff taken by the cops before we eaven get them off the trailer. So i guess my question is it realy that bad for a out of state person to come to Glamis to ride do we realy have to worry about the cops hasseling us this much.Seems like the parks department is pushing all the riders away. Travis I would make sure you have all your passes the one for being in the dunes and then the passes for each bike. Those are big tickets if you don't have them. Make sure to wear your brain buckets another NO NO not to wear. Flags on all rides and if it falls off pick it up and carry that SOB cause they will get you for that if you don't have one. Lights on your flags when riding at night even a glow stick will work doesn't have to be hard wired. Oh and NO BLUE tail lights LOL I got stopped for that one. I was never asked for registration for my bike just where I was from make and model of bike. Didn't even have my ID on me & I am an out of stater. Also no sobe bombs that will get you kicked out. Just don't do anything stupid to draw attention to yourself and you will be fine. HAVE FUN it is really AWESOME out there! Quote
MarineNYC Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Same thing here. Ive been goin there for years. If u act like a knucklehead then they will treat u like one. Alwayz have ur passes, flags , helmets and as long as you are respectful you shouldnt have a problem. Dont be the idiot sitting on his bike drinking a beer and think that its going unnoticed. Dont ask for trouble and u shouldnt get it. Quote
SkullRider Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 other then the normal brain bucket and the flag with a pritty light.I should be covered can u get passes there like at LS or do you have to get them from somewhere else? Thanks for the INFO and Help. Here is a link for Califonia blm rules and regs for Imperial sand dunes. You do not need a light on your whip flag for night riding, just a working RED tail light and head lights. All permits can be purchased when you arrive or online for cheaper. As for permits on the bikes, you need either your home state registration or a california out of state permit you do not need both. Only California residents are required to have a Califonia red or green sticker. http://www.off-road.com/trucks4x4/article/...l.jsp?id=226763 Quote
