2001Stroker Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Eastwood Company. You can get everything that you need for powder coating there, except the oven. They sell a kit called Hot Coat. Works very well, and is super cheap. You can even pick it up cheaper on eBay sometimes. Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Hey, how ya doing? The Hot Coat system is a good place to start gun wise. However if you really are interested in learning go here Powder Forum. I am on a few forums but this is my favorite. Alot of nice people and more info than you will ever need to know. Their powder is very well priced. Eastwood is a good place and so is Caswell. But this is were I get all of my powder and how I learned alot of info when I started out. Best of luck to ya. tnGRbanshee Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 thanks for the info . it doesnt look to difficult also it will pay for itself in no time. but i cant find much info on bake times and temps the ones i do find are worlds apart from each other. is that due to types of powder and different finishes? boneyardbanshee. Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Yes different textures, gloss levels, and what the powder is made of, can be different. Just remember that cure time is NOT how long it is in the oven, but how long the part itself is at the temp. On another note, MOST of the powders I get from that site cure at nearly the same temp and MOST of them are "overbake stable". That means you can cure them longer for certain reasons that you will run into down the road. Yes it is fairlly straight forward however its not as easy as one may think. Like anything else do your homework. Nunber 1 rule for coating be it powder, paint, whatever, is make sure you do a good job prepping the surface. That will directly translate into how good the final project is. Get on the forums. There is alot to be learned and you can learn from thier screwups instead of yours. Quote
