michigan_soler Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 ok, i know the crank is twisted... just don't know how to make sure its still a good case... i know the pistons are bad (the bottoms broke off both of them) Quote
arfountain Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 look for cracks, got any pics of the motor yet Quote
dajogejr Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Pretty hard to twist a stock crank, the webs are on splines. Very good possibility of it being separated. Stock cranks are very, very tough and resilient....before you give up on it, pull it out and have it gone over... Quote
michigan_soler Posted January 12, 2009 Author Report Posted January 12, 2009 i got it sitting in my living room in alabama right now, i was gunna pull it apart the other night then had to do laundry. is there any good checks to see how good it is without taking it to a shop to check stuff? i know the rods don't rotate smoothly. if that means anything. Darthwall Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 if the rods dont spin freely you can have it rebuilt or buy a new or used one also you could do a stroker +4 crank and spend some more cash on port work ank stuff to make it run better Quote
michigan_soler Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 im planning to rebuild this one while i have the other one in the quad. what im trying to figure out is what is a good check to make sure the case is good (when bending/twisting a crank, does it oblong the seats?) i looked for cracks and don't see any. and im about to pull it all apart so i need to know what to look for to see if the case is good or not? im pretty sure i need a new trans... or atleast a few gears.
