Steering stem bearing retainer froze. Gonna grind a notch in the retainer, try heatin' it up with MAP gas, then bash it with a cold chisel (hopefully not damaging any threads) to break it free. Any better ideas out there ???

What tool are you using to normally get the retainer out?

get a bolt that the head will fit in there. Then get your tourches out and heat that fucker up. That was the hardest part of my rebuild. I broke two wrenches. I accidently sand blasted it with that part still in there. BUt it was no match for the torches.
