2 STROKIN' Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Steering stem bearing retainer froze. Gonna grind a notch in the retainer, try heatin' it up with MAP gas, then bash it with a cold chisel (hopefully not damaging any threads) to break it free. Any better ideas out there ??? Quote

2 STROKIN' Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 What tool are you using to normally get the retainer out? it's never been out....i've been trying to turn it with a large bolt and dbl.nut with a breaker bar. Quote
mark6978 Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 try using an impact if you have one, I used that and some PB Blaster and it came right out. That was after trying with a breaker bar. Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) get a bolt that the head will fit in there. Then get your tourches out and heat that fucker up. That was the hardest part of my rebuild. I broke two wrenches. I accidently sand blasted it with that part still in there. BUt it was no match for the torches.
