d-wadeshee Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 So while out at Glamis my brothers banshee lost a gear or clutch or something. He was running up olds and it bogged down and the tranny locked up. Couldn't get it into neutral or anything. I got on it and pulled the clutch and started it so i can roll down the hill hoping to engage something. I was able to get it in neutral. But than it had no power so i figured that's the clutch. When we went to tow it the wheels locked and not even pulling the clutch in or anything would work. Couldn't get the bike into neutral. What could you guys think it is? And where could i get this work done? Thanks. Quote
98_shee Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) Pull the clutch cover off first check everything out, if its not your clutch or shifter shaft, its probably your tranny. You will have to split the cases. Get a clymers manual, it will walk you through the whole tear down. I would not take it to a shop they charge way to much. Its not that hard to do just pay attenction to how you take it apart. People here will help you if you get stuck. Welcome to the HQ!!!  Edited January 4, 2009 by 98_shee Quote
deckheight Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Posting the location where you will need the work done would help. Someone here knows of someone reputable in your area probably, assuming you don't want to do it yourself? Quote

blowit Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the welcome. I've been on this site forever just moved on to my 450. So i didn't have money for the shee. I'm located in Orange County. Without looking at the bike, I am going to lean on trans failure. The Banshee has 1 gear that we have fought on several bikes that likes to fail. I want to say second gear drive but can't remember. Anyway, it welds to the drive shaft and you need to remove the chain to roll it. If you pull the clutch and chain and still cannot spin the axle shafts of the trans, open it. The superseding part for that shaft now has an anti-friction coating on the ID to reduce these problems. We have also seen a shift fork shaft come out and that will give you some headaches. Brandon Quote
