bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 The exh port is huge! But I did get the old pistons with it and they are actually pretty clean with no scuffs or anything. Quote
Wildcardracing Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Same thing I was wondering, looks more than 70% just eyeballing it...but the transfers may have been widened quite a bit too. I would be most concerned about a short circuit of the incoming charge. Quote
bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) its like 65mm wide and 42mm tall then like 74mm from bottom of the sleve to the bottom of the port. The intakes are 5mm wider than stock then dropped 2mm and raised 3mm then the port in the top of intake is 4mm wider and 2mm taller. if that makes sence The transfer ports seem to be 3mm wided and raised 2mm and quite large at the bottom Edited January 10, 2009 by bigredburb Quote

That measurement can't be right, the measurement needs to be done accross the widest part of the exhaust port on the diameter of the port not the radius if that makes any sense. I'm sure someone here might be able to exlpain better. I'm assuming you transfered the port to paper and laid it out flat to measure it, which will make the measurement much wider than it truely is. Wrap the paper around your piston and remeasure it. That will give you a much more accurate reading. Quote
bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) That was a read it wrong its 55mm wide and 34mm tall not 65mm . Bore is 65mm Edited January 10, 2009 by bigredburb Quote
Wildcardracing Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 If that measurement is correct, that would be 85% of the bore. I would be interested to know how hard this set of cylinders would be on the piston/rings. I can only assume that the reliability would be very poor. I very rarely push exhaust ports to the full 70% and have only a couple of times gone to 72% on full drag setups. But, never even close to 85% Quote
bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 So would you vote on the run it and see what it does? Because im pretty sure they are to far gone to be cleaned up. Quote
Wildcardracing Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 That's extremely wide. I don't think it will work. I would be affraid of damage to the head and bottom end components when the ring decides to snag. I'm sure you'll get some more opinions on this, but I wouldn't trust that set of cylinders. I think they would be good candidates for some BB sleeves or the metal bin personally. Quote
Snopczynski Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 The best advise I can give if your going to run them is: Have the rings and the pistons coated, that will help a little, but not much. Quote
GrMeyer Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 ask your self why the person sold them. and if you can I would love to see the old pistons that ran in that thing!!! If you dont want to run them... Throw them up on ebay and get some money out of them and then get a cub that is already cut for 4mil. Just my .02. You got to love ebay. because someone will always buy Quote
bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 I will snap some pics of the pistons later today. I wish you could see the detail of the ports in the pics because there are some funny wear marks around that exhaust. Quote
Snopczynski Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 Not suprising. You need to either sell those, or re-sleeve em and have the port work re-done. If it even can be. Quote
bigredburb Posted January 10, 2009 Author Report Posted January 10, 2009 Yea im gonna ebay those and my stockers and just buy a cub cylinder. Quote
