BlasterKX Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 ive been thinking of getting Fattys instead of using my toomeys. but which one would be better for mods in the future like porting and etc. Thanks Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 T5s are the way to go man! (Especially when you get into porting.) I'd rather have T6s over Fattys. Quote
jayzx10r Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) ive been thinking of getting Fattys instead of using my toomeys. but which one would be better for mods in the future like porting and etc. Thanks No question.....the Fatty's. The T6's are for stock motors only. A lot of people badmouth the FMF's but I have them and prefer them for my type of riding. Wide powerband (comparatively) and you don't have to rev it to the absolute max to catch the next 4th gear...like some of the others with a narrower powerband. They fit great, great build quality, and are tucked in real well. I've tried CPI's, T5's...I kept the FMF's. Your results may vary... Hope that helps.... BlasterKX Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 i kinda figured it would be a torn conversation about this. its prob more of a personal opinion. but i mostly need new silincers for the toomeys. i can fix em if i had a welder. that and they need repacked which isnt hard. just was wondering because i could prob get some fattys for a decet price. but i might just keep these until next winter when i do my porting and il get the new pipes then. dajogejr Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 T6 work just fine for a stock motor and a ported motor. Here's the most important question. What kind of riding do you do? All the power in the world doesn't mean squat if the bike isn't setup properly to get it to the ground, pipes are one piece of a larger puzzle. Quote

05.Banshee.SE Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 ehhh its a mixture of creek riding gravel pitts and some sand gravel hills. not to terribly tall though. How does your bike do now? Would you say you find yourself looking for another gear often, or not even hitting 5th or 6th gear? Jw how your bike works now for where you ride, so I could offer some advice on what I think I would do. Quote
BlasterKX Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 well to tell you the truth i havent riden it much. just up and down the street and around the yard. so maybe i should wait til after i ride it for a good day or soo then go from there??? Quote

That would be best. Once you know exactly how it runs, and how it behaves, you'll know what you want to change... Don't rush on anything either, because it sucks wasting money. For example...when I piped it, I noticed there was a flat spot in the powerband, and I didn't like the fact that I had to clutch it to create power. That's when I put the head and domes on, and advanced the timing. Learning the bike each time you mod it will help you a lot. I started off by just messing around with the stock bike...seeing when I could and couldn't do wheelies in the powerband (how far can I push it before it flips? Where in the RPMs will the bike NOT come up?), when the tires would spin, when they wouldn't spin, how it pulls in each gear (and from different throttle positions), etc. etc. Then I piped it and did air filters, and did the same thing. Then I did the head and domes, and did the same thing. It really makes you a better rider just having seat time on it, and messing around. Especially when you understand how each mod effects the bike. It probably sounds like a bunch of bullshit, but when I know everything about my bike, I think it makes me a hell of a lot better rider. BlasterKX Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 good call for sure. and with the timing plate and reeds coming i think il take her out and see how it runs and what all i want to change. Quote

Did you order a full reed system, or just petals? No port work either in the jugs, right? Is the timing plate and head and domes being put on? Quote
