yzergod Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 OK, so I had a problem with the TORS and one of the carbs not working. I rebuilt both carbs with a rebuild kit from Jets-R-Us and installed a TORS eliminator kit. I got the carbs dialed in and when we tried to get the Banshee running, it ran terrible. Blue smoke out of one then eventually both of the pipes. Sputtering and finally gas started dripping out of the right exhaust port. You could tell it was gas as it was tinted with the premix. There was black granular deposits mixed with the gas that looked like the kind of ground up rubber from a tire doing a burnout on pavement. I know it wasn't rubber, but probably carbon deposits/buildup from the engine or exhuast. Anybody have any ideas on what is wrong and where to start? Am I hosed? Thanks! Quote
dragbanshee Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Make sure you have the slides in right, could have mixed up, cutouts to the rear. Make sure the slides are in sink and if that fails you will need to take carbs off and check the jets again for obstruction. Also did you disconnect all the wirering for the tors? Quote
AKheathen Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 pull your pipes, check for alot of gas. how did u jet it? check your floats and slides/needles. could've loaded up with fuel. if so, you'll have to drain the crank too. Quote
yzergod Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 Thanks guys! I made triple sure the slides were in right and I used a rebuild kit on both carbs, so everything is new. The floats were fine and I reused the same jets since it jetted right before the problems. I added the idle screw kit and am thinking that I screwed them in too far? I thought I disconnected all of the TORS wiring. I unplugged the connector to the main TORS unit bolted to the frame, pitched the 2 TORS carb tops, and the only thing left it the plug going to the thumb throttle. I tried to start it with it unplugged and couldn't get it started and then got it running (poorly) once I plugged it back in. Who ever the yahoo that thought up that mess deserves a kick in the ding-ding! I hate to take it to the stealership and pay their monkeys $65 an hour to do something I might be able to fix. Any other thoughts? Thanks! Quote

Any other thoughts? Thanks! are you sure you unplugged the tors box? (yellow/black; black/white; black wires across from the coil) plugging it in shouldn't make it run, all it does is send a kill signal to the same wire as the kill switch. Quote
