matt Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Hey, well ever since i started riding i always wanted a banshee, and now after going from a modded blaster to a full out kx250 im finally on a shee, it was an impulsive move on my part and a bad one too but hey its a shee. I have a few questions as right now im in the re-building stage: I need a-arms so are wicked a arms any good? Also how do you get the steering stem out? when i was taking off the a arms i noticed that the right side was pretty tight due to probably a crash and also upon inspecting why the stem was not coming out i noticed that the side of the bracket where the tie-rod goes in for the right side, it dips down more than the other is that right? maybe thats why the stem is not coming out for anything? well if anyone could help me out i would greatly appreciate it, thanks Quote
bansheejoel Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 what ive read up on any chromoly a-arm is pretty damn good Quote
arfountain Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 welcome to hq, it will get very addicting, along with buying parts for your shee Quote
RollinRhino Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 From what I've seen the Wicked arms are a good value. They put on super-duty ball joints and good quality bushings. They come complete with the heavier duty tie rods and the powder coating is pretty solid. You can find the kits on Ebay for about $400. Oh....and welcome to HQ!! Quote
matt Posted November 29, 2008 Author Report Posted November 29, 2008 thanks guys, yea thats not bad then $400 for the set. and as far as an addiction to buying parts, i m already drooling over parts so i can tell this is going to be a money pit Hey is there any secrets to getting the steering stem out? btw heres some pics of my basket case right now, they are from the first week i got it, as of right now i have the frame stripped besides the stem and hopefully will go to paint this week. 2001Stroker Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 The stem is easy to get out. Especially since you have the bike torn down. Take the tie rods off of it, then the castle nut on the very bottom, and then the 2 bolts at the top. Comes right out. If your bike is back together, take the radiator cover and tank cover off first. If you're scard of screwing up the radiator, take it out first. Quote
matt Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 yea i took the castle nut off and the two bolts off, and it doesnt want to come out what so ever, i was thinking maybe there was a snap ring or something i couldnt see or something like that. I guess im going to have to get a block and hammer tommarrow. Quote
2001Stroker Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Sometimes the bushings will get a groove cut in them. A 2x4 and hammer should get it out. Maybe get a socond person kinda wiggling it around while you're hitting it. Quote
