It wont hurt to start it up without it. Quote

Another way would be to run the gas tank dry, tip it on its side with that plug up. I think it would still spit out and ^^^^ method would be easier. Quote

Help, I'm standing here almost ready to fire it up. thanks in advance ok, you may not need it, but it not only helps seal, but it compresses when the engine heats up, and if you put it on real tight, the threads will start to stretch when it heats up you should back the plug offand put a wrap of teflon tape on the threads and don't overtighten it, just snug Quote
J-Madd Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I just put silicone on them when I lose those. btw..how do parts always disappear even if you put all of them in a single box or bag, or whatever. I always lose shit like that, and never find it. I'm still missing 2 pipe springs I lost over a year ago during a rebuild. Quote
