browns banshee Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 (edited) i dont know what to do most people have told me that it could be the stator but i put a new one in it a couple years ago, but it could be my plug wires but i dont know how to check to see if there bad, both plus wont spark at all Edited November 17, 2008 by browns banshee Quote
T_Shee Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 well id start by buying new plugs. but sounds like a coil or stator issue. also make sure kill switch and key switch are on. if switches are on and new plugs still wont fire....we can go from there with more diagnosis Quote
2001Stroker Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 You might check stupid stuff too. Like free stuff. Make sure the plugs for the ignition and kill switch are 1-plugged in, 2-not corroded, 3-no broken pins. Pull the stator cover, and make sure no moisture is in there, and it's gapped right. It should be 0.020. Make sure the wires are in good shape and plugged going to the coil, rectifier, and stator. Do you still have TORS? Quote
sheeBnasty Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 You need an Ohm meter and test everything you can...here is a link that will help you.. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/elecfaq.html Scroll down on the pape and it tells you how to test everything for resistance, that will help you eliminate problems..one of the tests is wrong though, Secondary Sideo of the Coil, to check the plug wires/caps put one of the Ohm meter leads in one cap and the other Ohm meter lead in the other and you should get some resistance. The only piece you cannot really test is the CDI box because it is a solid state circuit but you should be able to test everything else. I just went through this same issue, mine was the CDI which I know is rare..but that link helped me out..would of been lost with out it... Does your shee still have TORS? Has the Key Switch been bypassed, have you made any recent mods or changes? Hope this helps.. Quote
