Traded a Jeep for a 2003 Banshee for my son. It is pretty tricked out and ran like a raped ape for most of the summer. We live in Southern Colorado at 7100 feet. Low end was a bit hesitant, but from what I've read is a natural trait of the Banshees. Took it to the dunes north of Moab a few weeks ago and it ran crappy. Felt like something broke in the throttle/cable. We opened up the thumb throttle housing, but found nothing. When we did get it to run, throttle was either almost full on or near idle and we have to blip it to keep it running because at idle it would die. Blueish smoke out of one pipe, very hesitant. It was like the two carbs were not in sync with each other anymore. The area is very dry and at about 4500 feet, so I imagine that had something to do with it. When we got it back home, it still ran crappy the same way it did in Moab.

Any thoughts? I was thinking about the TORS removal kit and some new jets or would I be better off with a new (or used ebay) set of carbs? Really want to keep this Banshee alive and don't want to take it to the local dealer and pay through the nose for something I'm willing to do myself.

Thanks!bansh33.jpg

Welcome to the BHQ, I would go ahead and upgrade to 28s Keihin or 30mm oko keihin knock offs thats what I have and quite a few other guys. You can get them off ebay or just call them but you'll get them cheaper by bidding anywhere from 180.00-250.00 usually shipped. Carb parts warehouse....216-635-1099 That comes with cables and all you need to swap them out.

Sounds like your cable poped out the slide of the carb, pull the 2 slides out of the carbs and see if theiy both look the same way.

sounds like you glazed a plug, but pull and clean your carbs and check all the passages for crap in them. check for tears in the booys and clean the reeds. always make it run like before, before changing anything. squeeze the throttle and watch the slides to make sure theymoove right before you pull the cables.
