stock cylinder on 72mm machined case?

A friend of mine has a 472 supercub ported for drag race and he want to put a set of stock cylinder on this motor for the winter.

 

But the case it's machined to accept 72mm sleeve...Do you think he are able to run stock cylinder or the casing are too large to run stock cylinder?

Good question. As long as the gasket will seal, I don't see why it wouldn't "run", but I don't have a clue what effect it would have. I doubt you could use stock base gaskets.
