pittss1c Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 At first, I thought I was streching my chain, but after a few times, I realized that my back end is getting misaligned. It appears that the right side is sliding back. As a result, the chain loosens, and the rear axel is misaligned. I made sure it was torqued according to spec. That didn't help. I got a new bolt and washers.... didn't help. I even filed the surfaces to make sure I had a good mate of the bolt/washers. Is this a common problem on higher then stock banshees or is there another solution? Quote
BSHEE400 Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 have you tried taking off the swinger to check the pivot bearings and the axle carrier bearings? if in doubt change it out! Quote
pittss1c Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 I'll check them, but it really appears as if the right side is pulling backwards in adjustment (the opposite direction that the keeper holds it. The swinger looks straight. Quote
BenBB Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I agree with BSHEE400, most likely culprit is the axle bearings but could be front swingarm needle bearings...could also be loose swingarm bolt/bushing/frame holes or like mine the bearing surface of the axle itself is worn  If you get it on a stand or bucket or something where the rearend is suspended you should be able to pinpoint the problem, also if you change the axle bearings you might consider adding a grease zerk and popping the inner seals on the bearings so you can grease them (those bearings failing is kinda common, less so when you can get fresh grease to them). Good luck. Quote
