Mjv420 Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) I would start with replacing the spark plug coil with a known working one and going from there. If the lights still come on while your trying to kick it over your stator is good. Edited September 15, 2008 by Mjv420 Quote

dajogejr Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I would start with replacing the spark plug coil with a known working one and going from there. If the lights still come on while your trying to kick it over your stator is good. Incorrect. The lighting side and the ignition side of the stator are separate. You can have a bike run...and no lights, just as you can pull a bike (to get the motor spinning fast enough) and get a hint of lights...without spark. Start by Ohm Testing the stator, the method is in a clymers. Put new plugs in, and buy NGK plug end leads. New plugs and new leads will set you back 10 to 15 bones. Then check wires...all of them. Could be a faulty kill switch, grounded wire, etc. When it ran out of gas, were you putting around or riding it wide open? Any metal or aluminum on the plug. People sometimes forget when you run a two stroke out of gas, you also ran it out of oil....which, at high RPMs is NOT a good thing. Quote
POORBOY350 Posted September 15, 2008 Author Report Posted September 15, 2008 wow thanks for the imput i dont think you can ask for much more help  but i forgot to say i we did change the coil with my old one wich works.. along with the plug wires also. and still wasntt firing. so cant be coil or plugs wires or ends. and i was thinkin cdi could be bad. and dajogejr, i dont think he was running wide open racing or anything he was just heading home and ran out right before he made it in drive way. but man this is great info thanks yal keepn it coming. i will change cdi today. dajogejr Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 In my experience, I've seen Stators go bad quicker and more often than CDIs. STICK WITH OEM Stators if that is the case. Ricky Stator is JUNK....period. Good luck! Quote
