Keyser Soze Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 While riding out at the badlands this weekend my shee had no bottom end. The right side was dead unless I revved the hell out of it. Once it was WAY up in the rpms it seemed to performane like normal. I am getting spark at idle Plug is wet. I thought maybe I fouled a plug, put two new ones in...no luck. I thought maybe it was a clogged jet. Took carb apart cleaned carb and the jets looked good. Maybe some other type of carb issue, switched carbs. Left side still ran great, right would not, carb is good My compression seems to be ok, I dont have a tester, you can feel the tail pipe on the right side sucking air in. I would think thats enough compressionm to drawl fuel in from the carb, its just as hard to kick over. Is there something I am over looking? Maybe a bad reed? But how could it even be bad its clearly not stuck? Anyways Id like any advice. I hate taking the top end off damn 0-rings are $20 Quote
SCEADU Posted August 31, 2008 Report Posted August 31, 2008 If one of the pedals is broken then on top end you would run as normal but on the bottom you would have too much air and loose power. Quote
Keyser Soze Posted August 31, 2008 Author Report Posted August 31, 2008 Hmm even with a broken pedal shouldnt it still hit on low end? Quote
Onesickcrewcab Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 Sounds to me like you could have a broken reed. Or it could be other things also. First thing I would do is check the reeds to see if there ok, next thing I would do is run a compression test to see where your at. Quote
GrMeyer Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...mp;autoview=sku This is how much a compression test is.. $20.00. They are cheap and you can use them on almost anything. its a great tool to have. there are ways to test for compression but your going to run into everyone saying how to do it. This is how I do compression testing. Worm up the bike if you can. Turn off the Gas pull a plug and put your test in and hold the throttle open and start kicking tell the gauge doesnt read any high. As of i dont have a clue on what your compression should be so there should be a builder that should chim in to help you out on this one... And if im wrong on the compression testing just let me know and ill be happy to change my ways if im doing it wrong. Thanks everyone for all your help on my bike as well... I just cant wait for dune season at Glamis to start Quote
batshee Posted September 1, 2008 Report Posted September 1, 2008 if you have another distributor swap them out last time that was the same thing my bike was doing and it was the lil box under the gas tank (not the tors but that thingy i like to call the CDI) Quote
