  1. I’m running 155/48, the needle in second position. Still have a low-mid bog though. can’t tell if pilot is rich or lean or if the needle is rich or lean. Trial and error is all. OEM engine added T5’s, cool head w/21cc domes, 100 octane LL, 28mm PWK’s with UNI pods, Vito’s intake and reeds.
  2. Started with a 165/50. installed a 48 pilot, synched carbs, got the air screw to 1-1/2 turns, set the idle. idled and started great but had a terrible bog, no nuts between gears and the powerband was hardly showing up… lowered the needle one clip, helped a tiny bit but still hardly any powerband. I decided to play around with the main. I was already running T5’s, the only mods I made over the winter was a cool head, 28mm PWK’s, billet intake with new reeds and a set of Uni pods. I figured I would check the stock mikuni carbs I replaced to see what they had for mains and see how far off I was. the Mikuni’s had 280 mains and she ran pretty damn strong before winter so I did the conversion. 280 = 1.40, thought a PWK 140 would be a little lean with the new mods, so I tried 155’s. still has a slight bog/hesitation between gears but no where near as bad and the powerband is back !!! my question now is, Do I mess with the needle some more to try and remove the annoying midrange bog or is there something else I should look at ? with the new 100 octane LL and 155 mains, the plugs looked way better. im just paranoid of a lean condition and smoking the top end.
  3. I’ve since got the Shee outside, with a 165 main , 48 pilot and the needle set on second clip from top. Airscrew 1-1/2 turns, idle set, and carbs synced. still have a terrible bog midrange between gears and the powerband is nowhere close to as powerful as before I added some goodies. I’m not sure what needle it has, are there other needles I need to be looking for/at or maybe just drop it another clip ? im also running 100 octane LL with 21cc domes.
  4. I reached out to Toomey. - they said exactly that.
  5. I know the mains won’t work with my PWK 28mm carbs, I believe pilots are the same, but will the needle work ? my 48 pilot is good, the air screw and idle are sweet. my needle is one clip down from top. I was trying to lean it out to get rid of my midrange bog. Before I move another clip up, would I be better of going with Toomeys perfect kit ? Terrible bog between shifts and the powerband is weak. Would adjusting the mains help at all with said bog ?
  6. Definitely gotta stop smoking grass while working on my ‘Shee ! Installed the 165/52 jets still couldn’t get a decent high idle, figured I’d try a #50 pilot, took the carbs apart…..again….wouldn’t you know it, I never put the main jet in one carb and the slow jet wasn’t threaded in !! WTF ?!?!! after smokin some more grass I’m happy too say everything is back together and running awesome. As awesome as I can get without riding her. Thrilled to say the least, and definitely learned a lot about carb adjustment the last couple of weeks.
  7. Definitely not what the engine needs..lol. I bought them from who else…Vito’s.
  8. I opened up the brand new PWK 28mm carbs today. Catalog said 135 main and 38 slow…..actual 115 / 34. I’ll start with the 165 a 52.
  9. Thanks. I’ve got two jet kits on the way and I’ve taken the intake apart and reassembled using some yamabond4 with the gaskets.
  10. 2003 yfz350LE - cool head - Toomey t-5’a - vito’s reeds - Vito’s billet intake - 28mm PWK’s - Uni pods air screw half turn out, really rich air screw one turn, idles to the moon, idle adjustment does nothing air screw 1.5 turns out, really lean, idles to the moon, idle adjustment does nothing. Stock PWK 135 main / 38 slow should I start with checking for leaks? (installed the intake/reed gaskets dry). Take them apart and reassemble with some yamabond? the bog and oil smelling smoke tells me it’s rich, correct? Do I downsize the main to allow for less fuel, and adjust the airscrew again ? I thought with the air pods I would be running lean and would need to upsize the main ? As for test riding, she’s currently staying warm in the basement for winter…. - and yes, I’ve searched and read all the forum topics already.
  11. Ken O’Conner Racing is who I hope to have assemble said parts.
  12. So I just purchased an Athena 385 top to bottom kit along with a new set of cases, billet intake, Vito’s 28mm carbs with billet reed cages, k&n pods, Mac daddy water pump, wiseco heavy duty billet clutch basket kit, oversized radiator kit and a Magura hydro clutch. also have Toomey T5’s Did I do good ? Am I missing anything ? any advice or tips appreciated !
