  1. Recently scored a 2006 Special Edition "bee" on a partial trade, and with winter arriving here in the north east as i type this i figure this will be the perfect garage project to get cleaned up and ready to go for spring time riding with the fellas out in the woods. Its bone stock, together, starts after a buncha good kicks and runs pretty good. it could use some fine tuning to the carbs to be perfect but it runs, holds power and doesn't skip a beat... After replacing tons and tons of missing/stripped/snapped bolts and whatnot as well as giving it some small maintenance love here and there (fluids, brakes, ball joints, lots of grease etc.) It turned out to be a decent machine. However, the motor definitely needs some real love. It has two tiny leaks on the bottom of the cases where the studs are, as well as more stripped screws throughout the side covers. That being said, top end rebuild (thinking 64.5 wise), Hot rods bottom end kit and all new gaskets and seals to start as well as a whole engine bolt kit and perhaps some fancy titanium studs because why not right? Question i have for y'all is this, What else should I/would you address while motor is apart without going too crazy? What sort of preventative stuff should i just take care of now to save me the time later on.
  2. Here’s a good one, my son overtightened the float bowl screws and stripped out the threads on one of each of the carbs where the float bowl screws go in. Factory Mikunis. He put it back together and didn’t realize what was wrong until he noticed they were leaking. Told me he wasn’t paying much attention and just hammered em with the impact… funny I’ve been telling him for years to do certain things by hand but hey, lesson learned. Needless to say he came to me for help, do I gotta get on marketplace and find another set or have people had good luck re-tapping these things and throwin some fresh hardware in? any help would be appreciated!
  3. Over the last year or so I've started coming across numerous social media accounts of i guess we'll call them "businesses" or "entrepreneurs" perhaps? Running Banshee raffles. Now being from the Northeast, these machines are few and far between in really clean/oem condition. Or when they do pop up, people are asking crazy money for them compared to out west. But i gotta admit a lot of these raffles are some seriously nice machines which it makes me wonder... how are these raffles affecting the current market price for a used banshee. Obviously everything has gone up in recent years with the pandemic and all that but with these people running these raffles do you think its ruining the market and turned into one big cash grab? What do you guys think? Have you seen these? Entered them? Shit anybody even won one on here? Just curious.
  4. Figured id post up here to see if anybody out there is in my area, i got some killer riding around me and am always looking for new spots to check out If im not deep in the mud on my Renegade 1k, im flying up and down the power lines on my shee. If youre in the area post up!

Here’s where we stand, carbs were filthy… they got a good cleaning, OEM jets installed, (the pilots were two sizes bigger for some reason) Fresh gas mixture, fresh oil and coolant which it DESPERATELY needed they were disgusting, adjusted the chain, clutch, and throttle cables, also threw new spark plugs on… Took about 5 or so good kicks cold with the choke out and shee fired up in the 20 degree weather, once it got warmed up it Idled great, ran great, however I felt a small hesitation at low RPMs if I was being super easy on it before it would really take off. Other then that I think I should still do a compression check just for peace of mind and I’m sure everyone here will agree
  6. Hello all, I'm new to the forums so figured this would be a good place to start. I recently acquired a 1994 banshee on a trade, in exchange for some collision work and a paint job. The machine is in damn good condition, from the looks of it i would say its very very close to being original outside of maybe a handful of bolts and a KN air filter. Im new to the banshee scene, have always wanted one so this trade worked out beautifully. With that being said lets talk about the first things you would all do when acquiring a machine of "unknown origin" Truth be told, it does take a few kicks to get the bike to fire, and it does NOT like the cold weather here in the Northeast, but when it does finally fire up and warm up it seems to run great shift smooth and put a huge smile on my face when it hits powerband. This weeks task is a full fluids change, some fresh gas as well as a good carb cleaning (carb without the choke seems to leak out of the overflow a good amount at times so im assuming the float is stuck or hopefully something simple like that) Parts on order are new jets just in case because im not sure what's in there now and rear brake pads because these ones are absolutely cooked. I plan to ride this machine casually, and enjoy it the way it is meant to be enjoyed so im ready to handle any and all maintenance items it needs before spring gets here. So my question remains.... what's the first thing you would do with it?
