So I only had time to just look at my carbs last night and the carbs are off by 1/8 of sinc. The left carb slide is the one that is lower by 1/8 inch would that create the issue of not firing? Should I clean the carbs before I sync them Today? I have the day off today so i will be working on it in an hour.
-
Also im at work so I cant look at it right now but what if the carb on just the left side has the slide stuck open that would create to much fuel and just drown out that cylinder Correct? I will check the carb syncs tonight and also clean out the carbs, Swap the sides and try it.
-
Would having the reeds stuck open create this problem?
-
i bought it with a tors delete. But If they were synced together before, they probably arent far off each other. With them being just a little off would that make one entire cylinder not fire? And say I were to switch them and then the right started to mis-fire would that would mean that the carbs need work right?
-
Should I swap the carbs around and try that and see if the left fires good and then the right misfires? That would narrow the problem down to further down the line correct?

Ok I bought Namura Cast pistons. had my cylinders professionaly bored to fit them. I was told in an earlier thread that stock jets were fine. No both pipes dont get warm just the right side is getting to temp. Also only the left cylinder is getting hot not the left. Do you think the left isnt firing at all? Right now its in the thirties, I thought that would effect it but not to bad. But yes the rings that came with the pistons had the same ring gap but one was thicker in both piston sets.

I looked at it last night and came up with a new problem. Not all the head bolts were torqued correctly. I created a new thread for my new problem

I never touched the stator timing plate me it seems like it fires at a consistent rate but not every time its suppose to.

I just rebuilt my banshee a few days ago got it running it was okay for a while then it started to mis-fire in the left cylinder so I shut it off. I re-torqued all the head bolts and cylinder bolts got brand new plugs in and again it ran good for a whille then the left cylinders had issues again. The right cylinder wont mis-fire or backfire it runs great and gets up to temp mormally but after about ten minutes of Idiling the bike the left cylinder/header/and silencers are warm if that. My question is what could be causing it? I know the cylinders are running a little rich. I know the carbs have been sitting for a couple weeks. So should I start by cleaning the carbs? Also I remember putting on the piston butnot sure which one went on top and which went on bottom. One is much thicker than the other and I am pretty sure I put the thick one on the bottom. But I need some help to get this thing running. Running stock carbs/stock air intake/stock pipes/bored to 65mm

Would a shop rent that to use, you think? or am I going to have to buy it?
-
I also just painted my pipes so maybe its some of the paint on the inside of the pipe evaporating and the spark plugs are junk. I will checked on everything toinght. Ill check that the cylinders are re torqued and that the head is retorqued. I will run brand new plugs in it. Maybe it was just my imagination that thought the smoke was coolant but I will update After tonight. The tons of smoke out of the left pipe had me nervous.

I used a tusk gasket kit. Maybe there no good. I am going to pull the cylinder off tonight to check the water jacket plugs but it really smelled sweet not like it smelled before the build. I am running a stock head So no o-rings for it to leak there. I don't know how to do a leak down test on the cylinders this is my first build. But I don't think there is anyway it leaked through the cylinder head but ill do a lap and hit all the bolts with a torque wrench tonight to make sure i didnt miss any. I have only ran it once.

I just did a rebuild of a banshee for the first time. I fired it up and it worked great for about ten seconds. Then it mis-fired I think and then the left cylinder started smoking a lot more. I noticed that it seemed a little white, and it smelled sweet so i'm thinking coolant leak into the cylinder. Both of the base gaskets I got were identical. Both seemed to be right cylinder gaskets with the silicon on the same side, so the right cylinder had the silicon facing up and the other down. Not sure if I should get a new gasket or if The bottom ends weren't cleaned to perfection enough. My first question is, if the base gasket is upside down would coolant leak through there or no. My second question is what are other theories of what it could be it was smoking twice as hard and mis-firing.

I am new to cylinder boring, So if I bore my motor. I already know you dont HAVE TO change the Pipes or jets. Is there any mods I need to go with this bigger bore?
-
Awesome thanks, I really would have thought with a bigger bore that you would need to replace the cylinders. Thanks

So if im running bored cylinders with Stock carbs and stock pipes I dont need to get bigger jets?

Clutch Steels and fibers won’t fit into clutch basket

If you are using the cushions every time you put a friction plate in you have to press the cushion in very firm to fit all the plates. I had the same problem cause the cushions weren’t flat with the face of each friction plate. -
I assume if I bored my motor from a cast 64mm piston to a cast 64.95mm piston I am going to need to change all the jets. I don’t know which numbers for all the jets.

Where can I find paint that matches the silver color of a banshee frame? Anything that is similar will work. It just has to be close and not super expensive.
-
Ok thank you. Im restoring this 1999 Yamaha banshee and I love the look of the stock pipes so I was hoping I could keep them.
-
I had my banshee cylinders bored to meet clearance of my new pistons. The new pistons are 64.95mm. My question is can I still have my factory pipes on the bike?

Hi, I am a new person to modifiing any quad or dirtbike, I love riding stock equipment, but my cylinder in my banshee was pretty beat up after my top end went out so I bought pistons and had my cylinders bored out to meet clearance with those pistons. The pistons are 64.95mm. My question is can I still run the stock pipes on the bike.
