  1. I've got a 2001 yamaha banshee. Was riding a few weeks ago about an hour in I got a random bog while at full throttle. I slowed down bike idle fine looked around for a few mins. Started back off bog at half throttle to full throttle stopped a second time thought a heard a slight grinding sound not sure with the loud loose kick starter. had to keep riding due to traffic. Stopped a third time dies as I come to a stop. Try to kick start it backfires and will not start I'm not sure where to start. got new spark plugs I do have spark to both plugs made sure of that. I did try to bump start it. It will try to idle but dies and has a slight backfire. Does kinda seem like it lost some compression not as hard to kick it over. I did put my finger over the spark plug holes and it pushed my finger off while moving the kickstarter. I'm gonna do a compression test is there anything else I can check?
  2. I think it might be my idler gear it's got pretty heavy wear Mark's on the kickstarter side and slight rub Mark's on the main gear side. I cleaned the case out yesterday and there's metal shaving in the bottom of the case now. Really wishing I would have waited and just bought new parts. what could cause the idler gear to have wear on it besides the bushing?
  3. I got that rubber piece out I did notice that when I pull the clutch with the clutch case off that the clutch plates don't separate in the basket the fiber closest to the inner hub did a couple times the others seem like they were stuck together I separated all of them and re installed and it did the same thing.
  4. Ya I'll take it apart tomorrow and look hopefully that clutch basket I just bought isn't bad. I had to buy another inner clutch hub used from an atv shop I broke the original. the one I got has a rubber seal where the clutch plates sit against the inner hub my original didn't but I assumed it may have fell off from a previous clutch change?
  5. thanks for the video. out off all the videos I watched from this guy I didn't see this one I'm gonna check it in the morning hopefully my eccentric screw isn't wore out.
  6. I've got a 1 minute video but the files to big to load on here.
  7. I bought the basket used I'm tryen to get this banshee going by christmas it does have very light finger wear and a little play. I've never heard of the eccentric screw is it the bolt that's in the pancake bearing?
  8. I've got a 2001 yamaha banshee having trans issues. I bought a clutch basket, inner clutch hub and idler gear. When I start it in neutral it makes a grinding noise as soon as I pull the clutch in it goes away I can shift through the gears while running with clutch pulled just fine as soon as I start to release the clutch it starts grinding again. also when I have it in gear and release the clutch it starts to take off like normal with no grinding. Just looking for help on what i should check. I did have everything apart while putting the clutch basket etc in. the clutches looked good everything went together like it should.
