  1. Only vids of me riding. Ill do a walk around video later today.
  2. On another note, the guy i got it from did some other things that dont make much sense to me. The pistons are 66.5, the cylinders are polished (on the outside atleast) and the trans gears were replaced. He gave me the original one. Im curious why he did the plate at all.. Seems silly after having other things done at a shop. Maybe just a budget build. It does run good though, so i wont play with her until i have to. Thanks again.
  3. thanks everyone. i definitely agree with the "drive it like i stole it" mentality. Especially since she runs fantastic. I'm just planning ahead for the winter tear down. It's fine this season, but i don't want to leave that plate when i redo it. Coolhead with stroker domes, and port it. Check!! I may even bump her up to a 421 while she's apart. Thanks again for all the info.
  4. I understand that the porting would be off, but for now i can atleast remove the base plate, put in the new gasket, and install a new head with stroker domes right? I'll just get her ported and polished this winter. I just dont trust that base plate. Seems like one more spot to lose air. Thanks again for all the help guys.
  5. Thank you. The drawing helps. So if i get a cool head with the 4 mil domes, i can ditch the plate? What needs to be ported? Nothing would change except the head once i take the plate off right? i feel like im still missing something catastrophically important
  6. I would also suggest gearing if it hasnt been done already? I know mine is alot different even if i only swap my front sprocket from my 15 to my 14. I also have a "trail set" of rims and tires. I know you were more talking bottom end work. Figured i'd add some of my experiences. Good luck!!
  7. Hey everyone!! New banshee owner on this forum. I picked up a really clean 1997 with a 4 mil 403 stroker kit installed. The guy did a great job on the build, and even replaced the tranny gears while he was in the bottom end. I grabbed it with only 3-4 tanks ran through her, and she's wonderful!! My question is, what do i need in particular to replace that garbage base plate so i can get the 2 mil on the up stroke and down stroke rather than 4 mil just on the dowm stroke. Do i just need a cool head, or do i need port work, or both with a new gasket kit of course. I searched and didnt see this question answered. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance, and happy, safe riding banshee buddies!!
