Hey guys, I am new here and to banshees so please be gentle with me. I currently ride an 05 YFZ 450. I just purchased a 89 banshee with a bad motor. I tore the top end down so far and discovered the left piston shatered. I believe the cylinders to be stock bored out to 65.5. I aslo noticed that the port on the left cylinder was considerably larger and slightly differently shaped. I am looking to rebuild this motor myself and would like some pointers. I have rebuilt a few car motors and am mechanically inclined. I mostly ride for fun in the desert and maybe a trip or to to Glamis every season. So I am looking at keeping it mostly stock. So my questions are these. Are they stock cylinders? Should I get them ported to match or purchase a new/used left cylinder? My budget is not very large so I need to do this budget friendly.
What I do know:
FMF Gold Series Fatty pipes/power core II silencers
Stock carbs with tors/getting rid of tors
Pro design cool head with 18cc domes/will probably change to 21cc for premium gas not race fuel
Stock reeds and cages
Not sure of the crank yet/will split the case hopefully today or tomorrow
How do you upload pics? It says my files are to big.
