  1. decided to check everything over. I did find a bad cdi.
  2. I would recommend checking the output of the stator too. its a 100% way to know if the stator is doing its job. do not use a dvom for this. use a test lamp with a bulb not a led. test the lighting and test the ignition wires. the lighting will barely light the lamp when kicking over and the ignition will light up bright. the pick up coil is for spark timing and a scope is the best thing to use to test that. the output of the stator is not a dc voltage and it will be inaccurate with a dvom.
  3. few weeks ago stator bolts came loose and damaged stator winding. I replaced the stator and still nothing. ohmed out the pickup coil and stator. both are in spec. checked output with test lamp while kicking it over, lamp lighted up for the cdi and headlamp circuits. is it possible that the cdi got damaged. I completely rebuilt the bike last winter so I know the wiring and connections are good. it died on me when the bolts came loose. I am thinking the lack of lock tight and a cheap aftermarket flywheel could of prevented this. tried the original flywheel even though its bent, still nothing. was thinking about buying a cdi box but I want a high performance box but the one I want is for 96 and newer. can I convert my ride for a newer box.
