  1. He's got all the CAD prints he did on that mini frame on his fb page. It looks like he's using the same software to design his banshee frame that he used to design the frame, lt a arms, and lt swingarm for that mini on. He told me he's put a team of guys together to build his new hybrid frame. He's got two different machine shops, and a shop that does heat treating and powder coating working together with him and the chassis fabricator to get the frame he designed built right. He told me he had altered the original prints he posted on the internet a while back. The frame he's building is three separate pieces like the raptor 700R frame. You guys will have to give the guy this, if he's not full of crap and he does get the frame he designed built he will have one sweet shee. I've sent emails to several big name suspension and shock manufactures to see how much rear suspension travel you can get out of a banshee using a aftermarket rear shock and swingarm with the stock banshee rear linkage. Jim says 10.94 (11) inches and zilla says it's not possible without the elka long travel rear link. I'm anxious to see who is right because that can make or break his design.
  2. He didn't build it for him he built for his kit to ride.
  3. Yes locogato I told him, said you banned him from HQ. Im assuming you two aren't riding buddy's. From the looks of it he doesn't have any buddy's period much less any he can ride with. Lol He's been nothing but nice to me so far. s far as that crank goes you guys are bull shitting me right? He didn't try to pass a buffed Wangchung crank off as a billet crank! You guys almost had me convinced his frame would never come to be and the dude was clueless until I looked through some of his pictures on fb. Did you guys see that mini he built for one of his kids? It is sick, my brother bought the same quad atv at a yard sale for $250. We planned on upgrading everything but nobody made anything for the chinese quads. The suspension he designed and built for that thing is crazy! I think he built a mini frame and suspension that has kfx400 geometry. If he could do that his new Banshee hybrid frame won't be a problem.
  4. I got a message back from Jim, his frame is actually in the works as we speak. It sounds like his design is solid. The new frame he's having built kid being built from 100% mandrel bent chromoly and it uses a stock yfz subframe that's been modded for the banshee seat and plastic. Zilla, he told me he had 3D CAD models and the prints I had were generic renderings but he didn't come off of anything but these two pictures comparing the two frames. He said the fabricator he's using wanted the 3D CAD models, prints, and both frames present in order to build the hybrid frame. I brought up tabbing a yfzr frame for banshee plastic and modifying the motor mounts. He said the YFZ cradle geometry was symmetrical and the chassis balance from left to right would be off. http://s292.photobucket.com/user/james_taylor20/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpseub4ftwc.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm29/james_taylor20/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpseub4ftwc.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D http://s292.photobucket.com/user/james_taylor20/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps4fwbdwln.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm29/james_taylor20/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps4fwbdwln.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D
  5. I sent him a pm on fb. I've worked with a few CAD programs and he had to get the deminsons off both frames and do the math in order for the print to turn out, the length of each piece of tubing and the angle of each bend has to be entered. That software is pretty complicated. Deadbeat, where did you see a newer yfzr frame for a couple hundred dollars? A good straight yfzr subframe cost about $250. The r frames are rare and very expensive. There is only one listed on eBay right now and they want $850 for it and the subframe is $260. $1,110 is a lot of money, If I could buy one for $200 I would.
  6. He's the only person I've seen that did the math and took the time to design a detailed print.
  7. If he's a arrogant prick that will fly off the handle like you guys say he is I'm not even wasting my time and if he's a dumb ass it's pointless anyway because I couldn't rely on the deminsions he gives me. I was hoping I could get out of buying a $1,500 yfz frame that would only be used as guide to get measurements from. wouldnt it be better if someone that knows him on here messaged him anyway? He'd most likely give the deminsion prints to somebody he's at least talked to vs a complete stranger.
  8. I've researched the banshee rear shock and rear suspesion on here a lot today and everything I've read says the banshee rear suspension is pretty good after you have the rear shock resprung and revalved. The only other complaint I've seen anyone complain about is the stock rear carrier adjustment and setup. I saw a bunch of guys say that on here and on e2s. Is that not true? I've raced 450's for three years, but the banshee is a new animal. I'll hold off if you think contacting him about the frame is bad idea Laedger.
  9. He says he can get 11 inches of travel out of the banshee rear suspension with a longer rear shock and the stock rear link on his frame thread where he was looking for someone to build it for him. I don't know if that's true or not.
  10. Even if he gave up on the idea maybe I can persuade him to send me all the prints including the ones with all the dimensions.
  11. I found Jim Thacker on Facebook. I'm thinking about sending him a pm to find out if he ever moved forward and built the hybrid banshee frame he designed. I just got through reading through the custom frame thread he posted here a while back and now I want one even more! I won't be sending him any money anytime soon but the frame he designed seems to be perfect and it offers everything I'm looking for. His reasons for using a banshee swingarm and rear shock makes since. If the yfz has 11.5 inches of rear travel and you can get 11.5 inches of rear travel out of banshee rear suspension why not? The banshee swingarms are easier to get and a lot cheaper. The only issue or problem I think he'll see using the shorter banshee shock is ease of tuning. I've always thought a longer shock was much easier to get dialed in, but the extra hour or so it will take me to fine tune the shorter rear shock doesn't bother me. Does anybody know if he ever made up his mind about modding a stock frame or starting from scratch and building it from chromoly or aluminum? I would rather have a complete custom frame that's was built from scratch. I don't think he'd ever get everything right if he chops a stock frame.
  12. I hate scammers. It doesn't sound like that guy was smart enough to actually design those frames. I've played around with software like that and it is very in depth and you'd almost have to get some form of professional training to use it and design something as detailed as a frame. He had to have somebody else or a company design those, he didn't sketch those with colored pencils and crayons.
  13. Let me make sure I've got this right. None of those frames were actually built. People gave this Thacker guy money to build these frames and it was all a big scam? That sucks. That banshee frame is exactly what I'm looking for, both those frames use the new yfz geometry and from what I can tell they both use yfz a arms, suspension, and swingarm so you could run your choice of a arms, swingarm, ect. Could you run any 250R a arms on Lsr Outlaw and Leadger frames or were you forced to run custom Lsr a arms that were specific to the Outlaw frame only? It sucks the dude was a scammer. Whoever designed those frames spent a lot of time on those prints, I wish the dimensions were included on them. If they were half the work would already be done. Lsr or another chassis fabricator could build a frame with new yfz geometry using those prints. Did he happen to post or send a print to anybody that bought one of these that included the dimensions and specs?
  14. Okay, these are drawings zilla was talking about. The blaster frame has the same name he was referring to earlier in the thread. I guess this Thacker guy took money from people to build these frames and took their money? I was really hoping those frames were legit!
  15. I was looking at yfz hybrids and long travel banshee frames on google images and these two frames popped up, one is a banshee frame and the the other is a blaster frame and both look like they are based off the new yfz! Have you guys seen these and how can I get one?
  16. Who drew one up and is it a actual print or did the dude draw it whit crayon?
  17. Any updates on this? I would buy a LSR Frame if they would use yfz geometry and I could use stock yfz a arms to start and upgrade the a arms and shocks later when funds were available. I'm fairly new to the Banshee, I race and ride 08 yfz. I bought a unfinished 2000 Banshee project off craigslist with a 4 mil big bore serval, +2 a arms, jl swingarm, pc pipes, works shocks, need lock wheels, new tires and a few other mods for $2,500. I think I stole it! I copied the list of mods off the cl listing and pasted it on my sig. I want to build a banshee that MX capable and really complete and its not happening on the stock chassis even with upgraded suspension.
