Don't know if many people up here on the forum do build threads, but I thought it'd be cool to do one as it will also help me track my progress as well as get some input from some guys who probably know what they're doing a lot better then I.
Lets get started... Okay, so here's the story behind why I'm even here in the first place: Over spring break of this year, the guys and I drove down to Sandlake Oregon to ride for the day. To make a long story short, warm day, engine was running real hot and good, until it wasn't. About 10 minutes into my ride, I notice right where the exhaust exits the block, the pipes were smoking like a dick. I shut it off, looked around to see if I had a fuel or coolant leak dripping down on the pipes because the quad had sat for almost a year. Anyways, I come to notice the petcock shutoff valve was only a 1/4 pointed towards "on". Okay I thought, the CPI pipes sit a fingernail's length away so the vibration flicked it shut... no big deal right? Well, little did I know the damage was already done. Being the original valve, this cheap wiggly POS fuel switch just toasted my engine and ran me about $3,000. Ran it out way too lean and scored the cylinder wall. Over the next 45 minutes - an hour I noticed the engine losing power, so much to where my brother's stock 450r was pulling away. Needless to say, I figured I was screwed and decided to beat that thing like a rented mule while I could. My brother and I swapped for 10 minutes and decided to head back to the truck and take a break. Well, on the way back, I look over my shoulder and guess who isn't anywhere to be found? I knew right then, haha. Skip ahead, I go get a rope and the RZR in the group drags her back to the trailer and it gets put away safe. If there's any good to come out of this, it's that my brother was on it at the time so I have someone to blame! The day goes on, and more stuff breaks, and we go home. There she sat in the trailer in April, now fast forward to July. Now that I'm on summer break, I have some time on my hands. Started a couple days ago and as of yesterday I have it stripped down pretty much to bare frame with the exception of the tires and shocks to hold it up. Being only 17, this thread might not be the quickest growing but every time something comes along or parts arrive, I'll be sure to get them on and update this as much as possible. I work swiftly but have other crap to pay for.
I've updated my FB with all my progress, but to save time I'm sure you guys have a good idea of what I found. Chunks of metal and a stuck piston is what i found. I'll update this thread more very soon, and I would like to upload some pictures but I'm having trouble because the files are all too large. If anyone had any pointers around that problem that would be cool, Thanks! I'm excited to finally build a very fast, cool looking Banshee.
