  1. i finally figured it out. might have put them in backwards, but im done with today. i got everything put back together up intil simply putting the main fuel line back into the inline filter, snaps in the T fuel line going to the carbs, im just done with today. smh at old ass lines.
  2. alright well i took the carbs off with help from sheester_98. checked the jetting. 270 mains, 25 pilot. they were clean but cleaned them up best i could still. going to put them back on and i cant get the slide to drop. the needles appear to be dropping into the jets. cant get the slide down. had to take a break and jump on here i was getting frustrated. any help would be appreciated thanks edit: i noticed they are mikuni carbs too
  3. i simply ment the ratio of maintance between 4stroke to 2stroke withitn respect to time/mileage. thats all....i am aware it doesnt require constant maintance if taken care of appropriately. i must have given a terrible first impression...smh
  4. sweet thanks for the heads up, i tend to overthink things, so just that simple tip means alot. thanks. ill post as soon as i can provide some info related to the jetting, it should have a number on the components in the carbs? ill try to post pics as well since you all seem to be interested/invovled.
  5. no man i havent had time i got the replies too late in the weekend. it was parked at my parents, i brought it to my apt yesterday. i work 50hr weeks this time of the year. weekends are my only free time.
  6. i started thinking too, since its obviously running lean, i feel so stupid in retrospect. it has mods to increase air flow like a mofo. on top of lean jetting. and i was trying to feel it out (first day i got it,) i didnt really ride it long. ran between 10-20 miles. i feel dumb. so no one else has to belittle me haha.... i didnt know better i should have done more homework before hand.
  7. man, lol youre late on the ass chewing... i already rode those miles before i read any answers. then i asked questions based on the experience.... i have no desire to even kick it over till i diagnose the jetting and figure my carbs out! thanks for your reply. good day edit: all i can do now is pray i didnt do any inreversable damage to the quad. just know im not trying to "be one of those guys!"
  8. finally figured it out, here she is. hope you guys like her as much as i do edit: notice the back tires...thats why i got stuck on a hill...those will be replaced before i run it, along with the petcock oring.
  9. id also like to disclaim that i want to respect my machine and in return have it respect me the best it can. this thing is beautiful. it came from out west, no rust, perfect mods in my opinion. its just.... perfect. i want to keep it that way. im willing to not ride it...id rather fix something in the carb rather than fix something in the block.
  10. hey man i appreciate the good cop approach lol i needed that. i really do plan to leave her alone till i get her healthy. i was being a dumbshit, and i come from a 4stroke streetbike that required minimum maintance. i knew banshees come with the alpha omega complex. running strong, but not for long. just my way to some it up. (compared to 4strokes in respect.) i traded for it with the wrenching and learning in the deal. i want to know it inside and out. eventually ill be there. thanks again
  11. youre right man. i can accept the humility with my chin up. im in no postion to question your answers when you answer my questions. i decided to chain it to my porch and wait to ride till its in proper condition. i apologize. i just was excited from everything working out so well i didnt want to hear that it needs to be re jetted. slept on it and felt like a dumbshit all day thinking about all you guys fussin on me. my bad. just to be clear you guys think its running lean if it was jetted for 3300ft above sea level right? im at about 1100 ft above SL. also when i was trying to climb a hill my rear got stuck and my left header was smoking..... i probably sound even more disiciple but that is what caused me to worry in the first place. might have been over sprayed wd40 when i wiped down the frame... Edit: i rode those miles (max 20... it was speaking liberally,) before i was aware of all these responses. thats why i thought it might of been fine cuz it ran strong. but what do i know! you guys know your shit. im not doubting any longer.
  12. Clymers manual. Ok ill purchase that and worst case bring it in. I want to learn and be competent. Thats why I declared my ignorance to jetting, didnt expect to get hard knocked. If the manual can answer my ignorant questions, why not
  13. Okay guys I get it. I will figure it out with the info provided. Guess I hate the idea of messing with something right after purchase. Ill just bring it to a pro since I don't understand the concept. Respect to all you. Someday I hope to be as knowledgeable.

  16. I read a bit about it just now. Im not entirely sure the jetting needs adjusting. The thing is fast. Fast. Only hard starting and idling too long sometimes will die on me. No over heating today (50f) with moderate low speed riding to check safety of environment. And throttle to help it start just a bit. Other than that the front flips up in 1,2,3 gear if I want it to. Its not bogging. Idk guys
  17. Ill be honest jetting to me is a foreign language. I dont understand it as well as you experienced guys. It seems to be rumning rich. I dont know how to how adjust let alone measure jetting. I ran it today maube 20miles worth. Seemed to run strong. It likes wot more than idling. I noticed having the throttle pressed a bit really helped it start when it was already a bit warm. I need guidance my fellas
  18. Thanks all. So to clarify, he had a mechanic run through everything and replace any parts that needed. Last fall. It started right up this morning. Im thinking the floats got shaken when we dropped it off the truck bed. Still might clean em next weekend. The plugs are new. Only thing is the petcock still drips s bit. Im thinking ill get a fat oring and that'll be that. And fyi I think it was running 100% when I ripped on it. Fuel isnt old either.
  19. Yeah I'm pretty sure its 20cc domes. He stressed about using 91-93 octane. Mixing with castor 927. 32:1
  20. I listed mods in my making profile thought it would show up as signature. Shaved fenders Dual inline k&n filters V force 3 reeds Toomey t5 pipes And domes I think? He doesn't remember it was years ago he said his Mechanics were friends and really helped him mod it out without meSsing with internals too much. Im in Wisconsin. Bike ran great in az before he stored and winterized. Said new stator and ignition. He couldn't tell me much about the jetting. They took care of all that out west for him.
  21. Word phelps. Were cleaning the carbs tomorrow. Petcock.can fuck off for a few months Im sure? Jetting I could see considering the atlitude change and length of storage. Will it damage the internals at all to ride a bit with said issues? Assuming just the jets need adjustments.

  23. 2000 banshee. All mods in sig. Expect for one. The guy said the top of the cylinder s is not stock? He was really confusing and didn't know as much as id hope. Then again he hadnt rode it in years. He lived out west and moved to wisc didnt ride it. It was idling good at his house, when we got to my house it started, slowly started idling higher then died. Carbs overflowing and pet lock dripping. I let it settle and started it and rode it through the gears once I had my gear. It is so fucking fast. All was good. I park it. And start it once more before I left an hour later. Started. No overflow. Turn head lights on, dies. Didnt start again. But I left right away so maybe it flooded again idfk. I like it. But I am disappointed its fucky right off the bat. Ill get a pic up once I can, cant access my gallery when trying to choose file.
  24. just traded for a banshee. I love it. first quad. have some questions and need some pros to help. I will make a thread if anyone can help.
