I ended up buying a new oem one from partzilla. Cost a mint but i want to keep my bike oem. The last one lasted 18 years so worth the $$. They have to get it from yamaha so it will be next week but if for some reason it gets pushed back I will consider a used one. Thanks guys!

I sent fmf a pm on facebook. waiting for response

The banshee i bought already has fmf gnarly pipes. If I wanted to swtich to fmf fatty, would I have to rejet?
-
Thank u. I was think that too but you know a lot more than me. It just confirms my own feeling.
-
-
Oh and it was cold. Does that matter?
-
It starts instantly and has a lot of power. I'm at about 500ft. So would that seem like an OK number?
-
Compression was 118 in both cylinders. Is that OK?
-
I used both, which ever the local dealer has. Normally try the 80W
Great. Im going to order some. Is this the correct stuff?
Also what about coolant? How much does it take and does it use regular antifreeze?
-
oops wrong thing i think

Takes 1.5L of oil.
There are many options, 10w30 (without friction modifiers) ATF Type F, Belray Gearsaver, 15W40 T5, etc.
Some say ATF will cause pitting of the gears.
Just keep the oil clean and really, all should be fine. I like Belray personally.
Thank you! On the Bel ray, what weight do you use? I found this http://www.belray.com/bel-ray-gear-saver-transmission-oil
it has 75w and 80w

I want to change the oil in my 99 banshee I just bought. What is the recommended oil for it? I read that it takes a little under 2qts. I watched some youtube videos and saw all kinds of diffrent recommendations. I trust what the HQ says a lot more than youtube lol
Also doing a compression check when gauge gets here. Is there any thing else I should do since I just bought it as far as maintenance?
-
Do a leak down for peace of mind.
Wow, I was hoping not to have to do anything like that. I have no idea how to do that. Thats why i bought one that runs strong, light use and has had no motor work done. I am going to do a compression check when the gauge gets here.
Hot motor needs the throttle cracked open just a bit on start-up.
Try that next time.
When it dies and i try to restart, it sounds like no fuel, that bog noise under the gas tank (not sure how to describe noise)
-
Good job, that is the tip you want on your tester to match the plug.
thank you zilla. The banshee i got seems fine as far as power from top to bottom and starts quick on first kick. I just want to check compression for my piece of mind.
So far I have only had one problem. I rode it the other day for around 30 min or so and it died and wouldnt start back right away. I switched it to reserve and started right up. I didnt think it could be low on fuel but i put more in it yesterday anyway. Again yesterday it did it again and this time i had to pull choke out one notch. Started immediately. Pushed choke back in and it was fine. I really dont know what to do. Stock motor never opened, fmf pipe/silencer, k&n filter with outerwear, snorkel off of airbox.

Look at this and see if you can figure out the plug info.
A standard banshee plus is B8ES
14 mm diameter and 3/4" long
-
-
-
Make sure the tester has a valve.
Does it go up at all while kicking?
Actually we tried it the other day on a banshee i was looking at and it didnt work but i ended up not buying that one anyway. I was looking at some on amazon. 14mm would be correct for the tip right? Some on there come with 12 and 14 or 14 and 18 mm
-
The tip should match the spark plug in length. If you use the wrong tip, it should still register pressure, it just won't be accurate.
If you're not reading any pressure it can only be a couple of things:
Bad gauge
Improper use
Very large leak
Can't think of anything else it could be.

Thank you. Im sure its the gauge. I will see about getting another one.
At $700 a set, are toomey t5's overrated?

I just got another banshee recently. Last one i sold over 12 years ago. When i left the scene fmf's were all the rage. Now I see that toomey t5's seem to be on every banshee on every youtube video. Are they truly good or are they overrated? (say for an unported stock crank banshee)
