  1. So the blue oem fender is not cut and no cracks? Pics would be nice but any idea how much shipped to 62264?
  2. Ive been there a few times but its been awhile, Id like to make it back in the spring. Also been to Suttons Bluff.
  3. I live in IL not far from St. Louis. And yes thats the bike from Arnold. Do you know anything about it or did you just see it on there?
  4. Ha. Thanks! My dad originally had 4 1966 Fairlane 2 door hard tops. He gave me this one so that leaves him with 3. This one is all original except the exhaust, and the wheels. I do have the original wheels and hub caps. He bought it in 1973 but then it sat (in doors) from 1976 to 2006 when I put it back on the road. Its in amazing original condition no rust, nice interior etc.
  5. Few updates here. I got some front fenders for it but now a 2nd Banshee followed me home. lol. Its a 1990 J-arm. Its been painted around on so that kind of sucks. But It has stock pipes which is kind of surprising to me for a 1990, It has a Stage 4 2 into 1 with a flat PJ (I know no one likes that) and twist throttle. Still has the parking brake too. The seat is torn but my first Banshee came with a brand new cover, perfect! The guy said the carb needed cleaned, it wouldn't really run. The carb was spotless. The problem was whatever was in the tank was not flamable. Almost seemed like a mix of water and diesel and maybe some blue food coloring so it looked like premix. lol. After that I took it down the road and it ran great! I was pretty surprised by the power compared to what I remembered stock Banshees running like as well. Only paid $750 for that one! Most basket cases more than that!
  6. Ive had my Banshee for a little over a week now. It came with race cut fronts. During the test ride I had tons of mud hitting me in the face. I bought some nice used fronts off ebay asap. Still waiting for them to arrive. I dont care for the race cut look at all.
  7. $1400 is a bit more than I would spend on shocks, alright a lot more than I would spend. I'd rather just buy a 2nd Banshee. lol. I'm definitely enjoying. I'm trying to avoid the mod bug. lol. I'm happy with the way it runs, I'm mainly just doing appearance like the fenders, decals etc. I'm thinking about hand guards. Scuba. Are you saying your biked bogged at WOT with race gas and just going to a mix of race and pump fixed it? How would that even be possible or am I misunderstanding? I know there are a lot of variables here but just out of curiosity what main jet are you running? I am in IL also.
  8. I've got an all blue Banshee. I found a guy with a black tank/rad cover for sale and it has factory graphics on it which I really like. Anyone have a pic of this color combination? I searched here and google with no luck. I'm sure there has to be a bunch out there, just not an easy thing to search for. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the tire tip. I had to do a search just to know what you were talking about. Lol. Ive seen em around but never knew anything about them, never knew anyone who had em. Ill look into them. Ive got really nice holeshots but can roost the hell out of them. The bike already does have wide highflight A-arms, Id like to at least try some better front shocks, pretty pricey. Theres some real cheapies on ebay but I read on here they sucked.
  10. I dont plan on doing either of those with it. I have my kid today so I didn't have much time to mess with it but I did look at the spark plugs. They were both very black. It had a 168RD main jet. I replaced it with a Keihin 165 and it was much better! I didnt have time to do a proper plug chop but I think its close. Ill leave the timing where it is. Thanks.
  11. Wertzy. I believe these are what you have. But the brackets in the ebay pics look odd to me. Any comments on this? http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=181175115076 Heres some others by the same name. The brackes make a lot more sense to me but they cost a lot more. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=111106011978
  12. Damn. I never even thought of that! He seemed like an older honest guy but ya never can tell.
  13. Not Banshee related but I've got a Honda XR600 on craigslist for sale or trade. I've got a guy with a trade but he says his camera is dead, he was supposed to get his kids to send some, still no luck. Well today he asks for my mailing address so he can MAIL me physical pics!
  14. I was questioning if I had too much timing. I'll get some more info on the jets and report back, it will be a few days though. Thanks for the help.
  15. I understand 2 carbs make more power at WOT than a single. I accept that and I'm fine with it. But if I'm at WOT, I can let up a little and start making considerable more power. My single carb makes more power at 90% open than it does at 100% open. Something is wrong here.
  16. Well I have everything I wanted on the way. The guy on ebay selling front and rear fenders together sold me just the fronts, they look pretty nice and have factory decals on them. I placed an order with SHS motorsports for the brackets, bolts and a few other odds and ends. Got free shipping over $50. Then I ordered the above decal kit I posted but in white since thats what color is already on the front fenders I am getting. What does everyone think about 7 degrees of timing on my bike? Too much? It seems to make more power right up to wide open but then loose power at wide open, I'm wondering if that could be it or if its too rich on the main?
  17. Yes and I gave him $400. My 400 was in good mechanical condition but a little rough looking. I've been seeing 400s as nice as mine for a grand thats why I decided to trade intead of sell. I think I did ok.
  18. I saw these on ebay and got wondering myself. I guess I found my answer. They look cool. lol.
  19. Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention the port. He said it was an agressive trail port if that means anything to you. I'm happy with the way it runs so I'll probably stick to the single carb. The guy gave me all the dual carb stuff including another carb. I'm guessing twin 35s would be major over kill though. I have a 1984 Honda XR500R with dual carbs, not a fan! lol. I'll look into shocks, I may do that. Thanks again!
  20. New guy here, got my first Banshee yesterday. I tought I'd introduce myself and include a little history of my sport quads, but I'll keep that brief. I've mostly been a Honda guy and a 4 stroke guy. My first was an 87 TRX250X which was stolen. After that I bought a brand new 03 400EX then sold that to get the new 04 Honda 450R. I sold that to buy the new 06 450R, but instead I bought a Harley and another 03 400EX. I just never cared for Banshees or gave them a 2nd thought. The only ones I ever rode were bone stock and I wasn't too impressed A few months ago I picked up a Polaris Outlaw, solid axle version with the 525 KTM engine. What a complete beast. Anyone else familiar with those? The 400EX's days were numbered after that. The bottom really fell out on the value of those and it wasn't worth even selling so I put it up for trade for a Banshee and scored a 2001! So now a Honda guy has Polaris and Yamaha. Maybe its a small sample size but every Honda 450 I have been around has locked up, bikes and quads, some more than once. . My Banshee seems to pull the hardest at about 3/4 to 7/8 throttle opening. Its seems to loose accelleration at wide open. The PO did say it was a little rich for safety. Does that sound like it may be too rich on the main jet? (has 1 carb) I had someone tell me there was too much timing- see info below. It does nothing but spin the tires if you're really on it, almost seems hard to get the front end up. My only plans are front fenders and some graphics. I'm looking for suggestions there. Wheres a good place to get fenders at a decent price? Used or aftermarket is fine. I've been watching a few on ebay. The new ones are expesive as hell and the only used I see in my color come with rear fenders as well. Need brackets too. And so far I'm leaning towards these graphics in sliver. They are pretty basic but the price is right and I think it will make the bike look a lot better. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251403401602?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 So here it is and what the PO said about it. The HP estimates seem pretty high to me but this thing is a blast and easily beat my brothers 450R, especially from around 40mph and up. Just looking for some comments and suggestions on it since I know nothing about Banshees. He doesn't specify below but the FMF's are fattys. The engine has around 20 hrs on it, the cylinders were bored and ported by passion racing engines in Tulsa, it has a prodesign cool head with custom cut domes from noss machine, its set up to run 110 octane fuel, it has an adjustable timing plate and the timing is set at +7, it has v force 3 reeds, trinity stage 4 intake with a 35mm pwk carb on it, fmf exhaust, fullflight+2 +1 a arms, I'm sure im missing something but it runs great, its supposed to make 65 to 70hp to the tires on dyno. This is after I got it dirty. Below is the craigslist pic.
