  1. Ok good deal, Im in the Dallas area, are there any good builders in this area that anyone knows of? Or if there are a couple of go-to shops for this kind of work that someone could refer me to? Thanks!!
  2. Ya, it was the coolant, Im not sure what type, it had it in when I bought it. But yes im referring to the parts on the sides that have been opened up more.
  3. Forgot to ask about the little bit of work that was done to the case, will this cause any problems with the stock cylinders bolted up?
  4. Thanks for all the replies!!! Have decided for now to just put it back to stock, since we have all the parts to do it. =) Should I send the stock crank off to someone to check it out? Or any advice before putting it back to stock to keep it reliable? Thanks!! And for anyone who might have wanted a closer look at the crank
  5. Bought 2 banshees off craigslist (I will ask about the other in a seperate thread). This one was bought broken, the guy said he had 10k in it, took it off his hands for $1500 and surprised me and my buddy with a tote full of extra parts worth another grand, so it was a bangin deal! Will attempt to post pics, as Ive always sucked at it o.O.. The mods I know of, in his posting, he said TSS/Athena 421cc Kit, Wossner pistons, and something a long the lines of I'm guessing was supposed to say new CNC machined head(the posting cut off at this point). As far as internals go, thats all I know of, I'm unsure the brand of the crank, the head and cylinder both have Athena on them, so I dont know if generally a certain crank goes along with that kit. Then of course the common bolt on mods, Toomey pipes, larger radiator, vforce reed valves w/carbon reeds, larger Keihn carbs, and I think thats all for the engine related mods. And this engine was JUST put together(I don't know who did it) the tops of the pistons are shiny and new!! So this could have happened from someone getting on it too hard after a fresh rebuild, but I would think the rod would be ok unless he stuck a piston and the rod went from that? The problem is the clutch side rod broke, so of course the piston skirt is gone, and it trashed the cylinder, and beat on the case a little, I know Im going to need a piston, crank, and cylinder. My main question is, what can I check as the reason the rod broke? So I dont fix it, and throw another rod. The engine is all torn down and I can check anything if you need more info! From what I have read, the hot rod cranks seem to be a decent priced reliable +4 crank? And are there any common problems with the Athena kits? Should I do away with them and run something else? Thanks in advance!!!
