Well I got the lid on with a really good seal without havin to alter or cut anything so If I decide to switch I can still sell it. She runs a fuck of a lot better with the lid. Obviously with the amount of people that run pods in wet conditions etc I'm sure it would work fine for me but I've already had a close call with some deep water in my creek so I'll play it safe for now. Thanks for the advice and input, minus the smart-asses

Yeah I'm gonna get the Dremel out and make it happen.
-
Wtf was that for ? Is it supposed to be smaller or something
-

The inside lip on my k&n is 1/4 inch smaller than the air box and factory lid. Piece of shit.
-
Right, its definetly convienent without the box.

Too much mud n water Yeah I know people run pods in wet/mud conditions, I don't care to.

I got a k&n power lid and I can't get the clips to lock over the lid. the lid is seated in the grooves as well. Maybe grind down the top of the lid where the clip locks? Anyone else have this issue?

Reeds look good, have them out now. Found a little water on the face of the case where the reed sits. Think that could be my water/high rev issue. Put a light coat of flexible sealer ( not the intense shit) on the reed and boot to help seal them. I already got the power lid, got a screamin deal on a brand new one (75$) stayed with the 280's , used the moose needle ( middle clip) that came with carb kit as well, gonna try it as is and tune from there.

Yeah like I first mentioned earlier, it seems rich now so maybe the power lid will level me out. We'll see

First thing to do is make sure carbs are spotless, set float level, and make sure all vent tubes are open. Did you get a real good look at reeds? Then do a plug chop or good plug read. If you don't have a lot of experience tuning, only change one thing at a time.
The lid change may actually require a 290 (or 300). Always better to error on the rich side as plugs are cheaper than pistons.
Don't recall anyone with stock carbs using anything other than stock needle. Changing could send you chasing your tail for some other tuning issue.
Thanks Larry, I bought a bunch of jets so I'll probably jump up to 290 with the air box lid to be safe to start. The carb rebuild kit came with a new needle but the old one looks ok and like you said i don't wanna chase my tail because of that.

Advice would be greatly appreciated!

K & N power lid would be good right ? With an outer wear ?
-
Yeah that's true I have a 4x4 for that kinda crap, but there's always the situation where I'll have no choice but to cross something and get wet/muddy I'll keep the box n try a power lid for now, thanks fur the advice though !

Use the new needle that came in carb kit or keep old? Taper starts in a little farther down on new needle. Moose Carb kit, any experience with these? Also I just bought a k&n power lid to let it breathe, I'm gonna stick with the 280's I think with the power lid. Or should I jump to 290?

Is the big rubber o ring in a carb kit for where the needle attaches to the slide ? There wasn't was in there but it fits and kinda makes sense ...
-
Yeah just no snorkel.

I'm guessing it's rich because it's kinda a pig until the power band then it takes off but it seems too boggy until power band comes in.

They look good, i don't have them out but looking into the intake boot they look good.

Ah also- plugs are fairly dark but I also have a pro design cool head with 22 cc domes I will be putting on. Should I go right of the 270's or keep the 280's till I get the head on?
Power lid fittment issue

I installed a k&n power lid not a factory lid. I understand jetting and I will be checking my plugs to rejet as necessary with powerlid on.
