  1. Awesome guys!! This was just what I needed to know. That's what i'll do for sure - crank, tranny, bored cylinders. There stock now so should I go up to 64.5mm incase I need to borethem again down the road? or should I go 65mm? or more? I like the idea of the modded shift star.. does that work good? And I guess I will get a leak down tester. I'm scared to use it and find a freakin problem though. What is it for exactly? It looks for cracks and leaks in the case? What do you do if you do find a leak? WTf is this pancake bearing for? Is it actually useful?-- I thought maybe it was a joke before I looked it up. lol I defiantly want to get the frame and whatever else power coated. Any tips of that? Pieces I should or shouldn't get done? You can't do that to the engine right? I probably want to get new plastics and get everything cleaned right up - shits expensive though is there any good place to order plastics? - cant find full bore anywhere I feel like I'm missing something. Pipes are and little dirty and have couple scraps and burn marks - any tips on polishing those? I just want to clean everything right up before I put it back together. Although I'm lazy as fuck and just learnt he best way to do things the first time, hence why I'm talking to you guys before I do anything and spend any money. Always appreciate the help and have learned a lot from this website.

Banshees are crazy eh!! lol I know I'm getting a little over my head and that I have no clue what I'm doing but I basically wanna slap this thing together without needing to much help and being confident that its going to last. I'm going to get the new crank because yah the connecting rod is fucked and I'm going to try and find a good tranny because mines chewed to shit. I think clutch is good - your probably right about the kicker idler gear bushing and shift shaft. I feel like getting into a +4mill stroker or whatever it is is where i'm going to start getting into trouble because I don't know shit about that. Is there a big difference if i just hone it and get 64mm pistons or if I bore a bit to 64.5 or 65? Will I notice much a difference? Its sad that 2 -3 grand into this thing is fuck all in the eyes of true banshee enthusiasts but i love hearing the input and one day I'll be there. This was the first toy I've ever bought about 6 years ago lasted me 4 years without touching it - replaced top end last summer and blew the crank. Guess I shoud have done everything the first time. All I know is I love the thing and don't wanna get rid of it anytime soon.
  3. So I got my shee in pieces and I have a bad crank bearing and pretty chewed up tranny!! I don't want to spend a forture but i'm thinking of keeping this shee for a while and this is my first time apart and i'm willing to drop a couple grand into it but i know it can get up to $5000 easy and more. So if you were me what would be the first things to do?? -My main questions are should I buy a band new crank or would it be smart to just change the bearing? Or is it stupid to cheap out here. I just noticed the arm is kinda scrwed too so would need new one of those. Should probably just get new crank eh? . I'm already $800 deap with new tranny, pistons, seals. (canadian pussy dollars btw). - And I found a used tranny for $200 shipped. I Figured if i can get a tranny with not too much wear it would be better then leaving my tranny in. Its pretty chewed up! So right there i'm $1000 deep unless I replace bearings in crank. and save some money that way!! I have FMF FAttys on it. There a lil beat up as well. I want to power coat the frame and what ever else i can? - How much does that usually cost? I'm skepticle to get oversized pistons and cylinders because I dont want the thing to blow up every summer. Am i'm being nuts? what you guys think?? I appreciate some good opinions!!
  4. Hey I noticed today when I was out riding that my crankcase vent hose was split a few inches out of the case. I'll have to replace it but I want to go riding tomorrow and I wont be able to fix it by then. Just wondering if its a big deal? It never made a difference today.

  6. yah its forsure the stock Mikuni carbs. The compression tester I used is one that screws in -- probably not the best. I will try bringing it to a shop it test it again. And try and find someone with a leakdown tester to see if everythings up to par. Maybe it could just use a fresh top end -- really nothing else it could be eh? Thanks for the suggestions.
  7. I'm at 350ft and about the same temp, 60-80. I will forsure do airleak test tonight. For that is the best way to let it idle and spray carb cleaner around the boots and carbs to hear if idle increases ??
  8. Hey guys, I have an 01 shee with FMF Fattys, K&N Air Filter with no airbox lid, TORS eliminators and thats about it everything else is stock as far as I know. From what I've read I should be using 280s - 300 main jets. But when I put in anything that big it wont even hit powerband it just boggs HARDD. I had to keep the stock 200 mains in and put the needle clip on the 5th position (closest to blunt end) and it was running good for a bit but still seems to be a little rich. So I put 190's in and had the airscrew 2 turns out and all of a sudden it start pulling like crazy the best its ever ran. Went for 2 rides and on the 3rd it started to hesitate at WOT and didn't feel like it was pulling as much. So first off I was wondering if there's something that could be requiring me to run the bike so lean? After an hour ride when I had it running good with the 190s the plugs were nice and brown so I don't think it was too lean. Everyone i've told this is amazed that my bike hasn't blown up yet -- so I don't understand what's different about mine. I hear the float height could cause rich symptoms but is there anyway that could be it? I've never really checked them because it never leaked gas. And what can I do about the hesitation at WOT there's no way I have to go to a 180 is there? One other thing is my compression is just under 115 on both sides could that be causing my problem? Its been like that the whole time I've had it -- 2-3 years. Any knowledge would be great. Thanks.
  9. Perfect thanks guys, I'm going outa town this weekend but as soon as i get the chance i'll rejet and do a plug chop and see how it is. I'll post pictures next week.

( FMF Fattys, K&N, No Lid and TORS eliminated --everything else stock) If anyone has a good ballpark of where i should be at with my jetting that would be great. I took it out yesterday and it wasn't running like it was the other day. I'm not sure if i have bad gas or maybe just dirty airfilter but i'm going to clean everything up and try again. I need to completely rejet it I think i've tried putting 260s in and it runs like shit wont even hit powerband. Any suggestions would be great. ps. when i had it running good i had 190's, needle in last clip position closest to blunt end and air screw 2 turns out ---I know i'm leaning it right out but it always seems like its rich - Plugs were a darker brown when it was running good turned black yesterday was I was fucking around with the jetting.
  11. Hey guys, I'm new to Banshee HQ but have learnt lots so far from this site but haven't found someone in my situation yet. So from what I've heard from this site is that i should be running 260-280 mains but after playing with it for a bit I found it ran the best with 190s in it and when i check the plugs there a nice chocolate brown and looks a bit on the richer side to me. With the mods I have i havent heard of anyone running 190s but can this be right? I've had the bike for 3 years and its running the best its ever ran. A little bog on the bottom end but i ordered 27.5 pilots and I think that will fix that right up. (Air screw is turned out 2 turns -- If I turn it in all the way it eliminates the bottom end bog but I lose all my top end power) I just want to know what you guys think??
