  1. Ya... Ok I'm gonna make this clear... -The guy who owned it was in way over his head.. -I was in over my head! I've rebuilt dirt bikes, but nothing like this.. -the quad Was jetted correctly, it idled perfect, started first kick, revved out smooth, and all around ran great and showed no signs of being lean. -no the shop is not a performance atv shop, but not a hack mower shop either, during the winter (hunting season>_> in the south) 98% of our work is atv, besides the boss buys, rebuilds, and sells dirt bikes, sport quads, and motorcycles. - now I'm not saying we didn't screw up on this, but I'm pretty sure that it was not my problem on this deal. - I don't think the same thing that popped it this time popped it last time, - 1- it was the other piston this time. 2- totally different symptoms. 3- he admitted to not having a clue how to mix fuel correctly -there's no danger of lawsuit.. Well i guess I learned a lot by the whole deal... Thanks for ya'lls wisdom..
  2. Just a small one mechanic atv/small engine shop in rural Alabama....
  3. Ya that's what I figured... But I'm not sure because it doesn't quite make sense to me that only one side would be destroyed... The other is perfectly fine...
  4. Im not sure about the timing... I'm supposing it was stock...
  5. Possibly.. we did nothing to the carbs because it was already bored (before he brought it to us) but why just one side?
  6. 11.9:1 I believe.. Ha I think I may have gotten my rights and lefts mixed a bit in the post....
  7. Ok so I'm new here..... I've got a question for ya'll... Heres the story.. Guy brought a banshee into the shop, had ran it lean and it was destroyed... Wanted us to put a big bore on it... So we ordered an Athena 392 big bore kit.. Put it all together,it ran beautiful... He picked it up, we explained the importance of proper fuel mixture, 96 octane gas (recommended by the kit) and away he goes... Well he was back that afternoon... Said one sparkplug has come loose so he stopped and tightened it an now it "won't kick".. He had ran 2 tanks of gas thru it and it's locked up tight. He admitted to running "cheap gas" in it... Heres what it looks like. Right piston Left. Head What I dumped out of the right pipe. Ok so was this the result of low octane fuel in a hi-compression engine? Tan what only one cylinder destroyed? Carbs not synced right? Or what?
