I bought a 1999 Banshee and the light guards are trashed. For the life of me I cannot get them off. One of them is broken around the case. I tried prying it off no luck. I see how the light guard goes on with the push clips but i dunno what to do. Something is holding them on cause one is half broken and i cant even pull that one off. What am I doing wrong? I am damaging the light

I just wanted to use it to flush the case out. Now I am worried I might hurt the bike Yamaha scared the shit out of me. They said don't listen to any of you guys. Funny thing is all you guys say to run those oils. I think Yamaha wanted me to buy there oils.

I called Yamaha and they said never put 10W-30 in the case. They said I had to use a motorcycle oil only. I am not sure if they were trying to sell me oil or not. Could somebody clear up this issue for me?

Will it hurt the bike if i use that oil? Really I was gonna use it to just flush the case out.

Is it that single screw on the bottom of the light? The guards are broke and I want to replace them.

Hi, I have a 99 Banshee and I want to replace the headlight guards. How do I do this? Do they just pop off? Should I use a Flathead screw driver to do it?

I have 2 quarts of Valvoline Max Life High Mileage 20W-50. Can I use that or do I have to go with 10W-30?

Does the whole kick start have to come out? Is it a simple replacement?

The kick start jingles from where it turns in and out. When you blast the gas it does it really loud. What has worn out and where do i goto to get the replacement part?

The back pipes don't get hot at all that Ive noticed but i haven't really rode it past 2nd gear yet and with no oil being in it its good thing I haven't taken it to the trails.

Also I noticed today it was only smoking out one pipe it could just be me but could there be a problem it sounds and runs fine. Also the kick start makes noise like its lose it jingles is that a normal thing or is it about to break?

I just screwed it down and back out and it shows full. Its not showing anything the way you told me to do it by just setting it on top and not screwing it down.

I just did what you said to do and not a drop of oil showed up on the stick. Now I am a bit worried. This could explain the grey oil. its funny this morning with out a start it looked normal then after playing with it in the garage a bit it was like silver.

Will a Haynes be just as good? Also how do you use the shoutbox or do you have to be a premium member?

I ordered a Haynes manual yesterday so that will be a big help. Also on the oil dipstick there's a small thatched area on it to show the oil its very small. Now when the oil is at the top of the little thing does that mean its full or low? I wanna do an oil change on this thing tomorrow.

Should I be worried? I worry a lot and I need some peace of mind.

I was doing some inspecting today and I found electric tape around a piece of the axle. What is this about? I cannot upload my pic it says its too big of a file. Its on the left side and covers what appears to be 2 nuts to secure the axle right next to the sprocket. Why would he tape that off and how worried should I be?

When I pull out my choke it goes right back in and I have to hold it till its warmed up is this normal?

I just looked again it says 1500 cm3. I am not good with measurements so when I goto the store in the morning i need to know what to buy and how much to put in. This is my first 2-stroke. I don't want to under or over fill it. So do you know how many quarts 1500 cm3 is? Also its bored .020 over if that helps.

What kind of oil should i use to change it and how much does the bike take? I got it from a mechanic and the engine has like 50 hours on it the clutch was replaced too.
